I was in attendance at The Skyex Community Stadium on a windy and rainy Tuesday night (it was my first ever visit to the ground), to watch Hayes & Yeading United face Plymouth Parkway, in a Southern League Premier Division South fixture. The home side started this game in 20th place in the league table, with Plymouth Parkway in 16th place in the league standings. The game finished 2-0 to the visiting side, who in my opinion deserved to win the game. In the third minute of the game, the club from Devon took an early lead. A lofted pass in behind the Hayes & Yeading United defence made it difficult for the home side to defend, because of the wind. Plymouth Parkway forward Dylan Jones was able to get on the ball inside the penalty area, from where he finished past goalkeeper Jacob Adams. A powerful effort from Hayes & Yeading United player Tobias Braney, on the edge of the Plymouth Parkway penalty area, went just wide of the goal, as the home side tried to respond. A couple of goal attempts from the away side followed, before Plymouth Parkway were awarded a penalty kick on 28 minutes, after Dylan Jones was fouled by Will Salmon inside the Hayes & Yeading United box. Shane White stepped-up to powerfully find the middle of the goal, to double Plymouth Parkway’s lead.
In what was a rare Hayes & Yeading United chance during the first half, Ayo Faniyan rounded Plymouth Parkway goalkeeper Adam Parkes inside the penalty area, before missing the target from a difficult angle. The ball then came to a teammate inside the penalty area, whose effort was excellently saved by Adam Parkes. Plymouth Parkway player Callum Hall, hit a volleyed effort wide of the goal on the volley, before the impressive Dylan Jones came inside from the right flank with the ball, before hitting a low effort wide of the Hayes & Yeading United goal, from the edge of their penalty area, in what was the final chance of the first half. During the early stages of the first half, the home side created a decent chance. Which ended with Ayo Faniyan having an overhead kick effort saved by Adam Parkes, from inside the Plymouth Parkway penalty area. After a decent save from Jacob Adams, from Plymouth Parkway substitute Rio Garside, Dylan Jones saw a deflected effort of his, go wide of the goal.
After Michael Fernandes had an effort saved by Plymouth Parkway’s goalkeeper Adam Parkes, the home side had a player sent off, with Lewis Kinsella shown a straight red card for a sliding challenge. On the bounce, inside the Plymouth Parkway box, Hayes & Yeading United substitute Ronan Silva had a fine effort on goal, well saved away by Adam Parkes, in what turned out to be the final effort of the game. Plymouth Parkway were much quicker in their passing, particularly during the first half of the game, and they were definitely more clinical in front of goal. And my player of the match was Dylan Jones, who with one goal and an involvement in the second goal, was the most influential player during the match, and he showed some good skill on the ball throughout the match. For Hayes & Yeading United, substitute Steve Ngunga looked to be their most influential player, and his directness with the ball down the right flank was impressive. As I mentioned earlier, this was my first visit to The Skyex Community Stadium, and it’s a nice ground, with a nice and modern main stand.
