My weekly round-up of the Middlesex County Football League (step 7 and step 8):

With all of the action in the Middlesex County Football League taking place on Saturday, there were no midweek fixtures for the week beginning on Monday the 16th of September. In the Premier Division of the Middlesex League, Camden United returned to winning ways at The New River Stadium, with a 3-2 win over Larkspur Rovers. Camden United’s goals on the day came from Arif Bala (he scored two goals against Larkspur) and Ferhat Canlier. I reported on the Hayes & Hillingdon versus Soccer Stars Fennecs league game, on Saturday afternoon (you can read my match report on my blog), and the match was won 3-0 by the league leaders, Hayes & Hillingdon. Jamie Gourey (he is currently the top scorer in the league), Sam Baigent and Luke Jones, got Hayes & Hillingdon’s goals.

Jolof Sports would make it five wins from five league games, when they won 1-0 away to Indian Gymkhana Club, on Saturday. Kaine Flemy (his fourth goal of the season) got the winning goal for Jolof Sports, at the Indian Gymkhana Sports Club. In a thrilling game of football over at the Linford Christie Stadium, Kensington Dragons won 5-4 against Camden & Islington United, as the north London club lost their first game of this season. Among the goals for Camden & Islington United, was one of the league’s best players last season in Ryan Pickles, who got a hat-trick of goals against Kensington Dragons. SL Benfica would record an impressive 6-1 home victory over the defending league champions, Pitshanger Dynamo. Among the six different scorers for SL Benfica, was Thiago De Souza De Brito, who now has five goals in five league appearances this season.

In the final Premier Division match that took place on Saturday, Stonewall had a fantastic game against Hilltop Reserves, as they won 7-0 at the West Ham Memorial Ground. A hat-trick of goals from centre-forward Jay Lemonius, a brace of goals from Yusuf Isiaq, as well as goals from Fernando Martins and George Watmough, ensured that Stonewall’s perfect start to the league season continues. In the first round of the Alec Smith Premier Division Cup, there were two games taking place in this competition on Saturday. The first game took place at the London Tigers Sports Complex, as London Tigers faced the holders of this competition, in Kodak (Harrow). However, London Tigers would advance to the next round of the competition, with a 3-2 win. And in the other cup-tie, Eagles Land Cricklewood and Shepherds Bush would play out a 3-3 draw, at the 3g pitch at Vale Farm. However, Eagles Land Cricklewood would win the tie on penalties, after the 90 minutes. As the home side continue their strong start to the season.

In the London Saturday Junior Cup, there were two step 8 sides of the Middlesex League, who were scheduled to have been involved in this competition on Saturday. Camden & Islington United Reserves advanced to the second round of the competition with a win 3-0 over London Olympia, thanks to goals from Rafe Brooks, Tyrese Logan and James Briars. The second cup-tie actually didn’t actually take place though, with Sporting Duet Academy being awarded the win, against Park Star Blue. Over to the Division One (East & Central), and Apollo London won 3-0 against Westminster & Kensington, in north London. And in the same division, FC Marylebone recorded a tremendous 7-1 home victory over Hackney Wick Reserves, at the Paddington Recreation Ground. Among the goals for the home side was Jevonte Deabreau, who impressively got five goals against Hackney Wick Reserves. Jevonte did score four goals against Estudiantes, on the opening day of the season, but that game has since been voided, as sadly Estudiantes have since folded.

Also at step 8 of the Middlesex League, is the Division One (South & West). Brentham would lose 2-1 at home to West London Athletic, at Brentham Club on Saturday afternoon. And in the same division, Harrow United were narrow 4-3 winners against Feltham, at Brunel University Sports Complex. The visitors to Cranford Community College, AFC Southall, recorded a 3-0 win over Hayes Town. Hashim Ahmed and Burnett Basworth (he got two goals), got the goals for the away side. CB Hounslow & Abbots A won 4-1 away to Ickenham, in this division, and Ruislip Town won 3-1 at home to SL Benfica B.

In the Division One (North & West) of the Middlesex League, Bessingby Park Rangers made it two wins from their first three league games of the season, as they won 6-3 at home to Brent United, at the London Marathon Playing Field. Kian Hyland continued his excellent start to the season, by getting another two goals for Bessingby Park Rangers, in this game on Saturday. Bloomsbury maintained their perfect start to the league season, with a 3-2 away win over Brook House Reserves. Portobello, recently promoted to step 8, returned to winning ways when they beat Celtic 2-1 (away). And FH Whistlers recorded an impressive 7-1 win over Eagles Land Cricklewood XI, at Dormers Wells Leisure Centre. A hat-trick of goals from Luca Chung, and goals from Mohammed Ansari, Sam Aran, Matthew Cordell and Taffel McCootie, helped FH Whistlers to win this game so emphatically.

And finally, at the Roger Bannister Sports Centre, Harrow Bhoys made it two wins from two, with a 3-0 win over Hillside AFC.
