On Saturday afternoon in the Middlesex Premier Division, there were six league matches taking place. In north London, at the New River Stadium, there was a north London derby taking place, as Camden United hosted Camden & Islington United. This entertaining game would finish in a 4-4 draw. Matheus Santana and Kairo Theophane both got braces for the home side, with Josh Gruby, Clement Jeans, Ryan Pickles, as well an own goal, being the away side’s goalscorers on the day. I was at the Eagles Land Cricklewood versus Soccer Stars Fennecs league fixture (on Saturday), and you can read my match report of that game on my blog. However, the match would finish 1-1. The inform Kristo Beshiku (Eagles Land Cricklewood player) and Hocine Krouchi got the goals in this game, at Vale Farm.
Hayes & Hillingdon continue to look like real contenders for the Middlesex Premier Division title, this season. They would win 1-0 at home to Larkspur Rovers, on Saturday. The talented Charlie Casey got the only goal of that match. Another side in the Premier Division who are looking like they are going to be challenging for the league title this season, is SL Benfica, who once again recorded a good and impressive result at the weekend. They would win 7-1 away to London Tigers, at the London Tigers Sports Complex. Among the goalscorers for Ricky Nelson’s side, was Rafael Barbosa Dos Santos (he now was 10 league goals in 8 eight appearances this season), who got a hat-trick, and also Thiago De Souza De Brito, who got a brace of goals on the day.
At Linford Christie Stadium, an entertaining Premier Division match took place, as Kensington Dragons and Hilltop Reserves shared the points, with this game finishing 3-3. And finally from the Premier Division, Pitshanger Dynamo would lose 5-2 at home to unbeaten Jolof Sports, at Brentham Club. For the away side, Hervan Volney (he got a hat-trick) and Omosheni Oshodi-Atinmo (he got a brace of goals) got Jolof Sports’ goals on the day. Danny Brissett’s side are another team who despite it still being the relatively early stages of the season, are a team who I think will do very well in the league this season. In the London County FA Saturday Junior Cup, Camden & Islington United Reserves (inform Rafe Brooks got both goals for them) won 2-1 against The Wilberforce Wanderers, at home on Saturday, to progress to round three of the competition. Wood Lane very impressively won 15-1 against Beckenham, on the same day, in the same competition. Also, Hackney Wick Reserves lost 6-0 away to Imperial Old Boys.
In the second round of this season’s Middlesex Intermediate Cup, Shepherds Bush won 1-0 against Celtic (1995), at Harefield United FC. In round two of the Jim Rogers President’s Division One Cup, Harrow Bhoys continued their excellent start to the season, with a 3-1 away win over a young Eagles Land Cricklewood XI side. In the step 8 divisions of the Middlesex League (Division One East & Central), Alexandra Knights would impressively score three goals in seven minutes, to win 3-2 at home to Westminster & Kensington, at Edmonton County School. Filippo Gin, Rui Rocha, and Matteo Sbarzella got the home side’s goals on the day, as they made it back to back wins in the league. In the same step 8 division, FC Marylebone beat Soccer Stars Fennecs Ascenders 4-0, with a hat-trick from Romario Edwards and a goal from Omar Debbagh, helping Marylebone to get all three points.
Also in the Division One (East & Central), Apollo London won 5-0 away to FC Wood Green, and LBS Lions won 2-1 (Andrei Pogan got both goals, to take his league tally to four goals for the season so far) against Stonewall Reserves, at West Ham Memorial Ground. At Pole Hill Open Spaces, in the Division One (South & West), Sporting Duet Academy won 2-1 away to CB Hounslow & Abbots, and in the same division on Saturday, league leaders Harrow United made it seven league wins from eight games, with an impressive 4-1 home win over West London Athletic. At Cranford Community College, SL Benfica B recorded a 2-1 away win (Cameron Rowe-Osammor got both goals for SL Benfica B). And in the final two games of that division from last weekend, Ickenham and Feltham would draw 1-1, and Ruislip Town won 4-2 at home to Brentham.
In the Division One (North & West), Bessingby Park Rangers would draw 1-1 with Portobello, at London Marathon Playing Field. And the leaders of that division (Bloomsbury FC), would win 4-2 at home to Hillside AFC, with FH Whistlers winning 4-0 away to Brent United (Matthew Cordell got a brace of goals in that game for the visiting side). Next Saturday afternoon, there are some fantastic games taking place in the Middlesex Football League. The pick of the games (in my opinion) is Portobello FC’s home step 8 league fixture with Harrow Bhoys, which should be a great game of football at the London Marathon Playing Field.
