PFC Victoria London 2-0 Woodley United FC: (My match report from Bedfont Sports Club)

PFC Victoria London’s home Combined Counties Football League Division One fixture with Woodley United (on Wednesday night), was played at Bedfont Sports Club. PFC Victoria London started this match in 17th place in the league table (after 22 matches played), with Woodley United starting this game in 23rd place in the table, after 25 league matches played. PFC Victoria would win this game 2-0. For a long time during the first half, there were hardly any goalscoring chances of note. PFC Victoria were seeing more of the ball, but neither side was able to create any notable chances. In fact, it was in the 28th minute of the game, when the first decent chance of the match had been created, and it would lead to the opening goal of the game. Following a good counter forward, from PFC Victoria, Nataniel Zolnierek would go forward with the ball down the left flank, before showing some good pace with the ball, to skip past a defender. Zolnierek would continue forward into the Woodley penalty area, before squaring the ball to Oliwier Kaczmarek, who finished into the goal from close range, 1-0.

After a good pass from Yurii Kohuch had found the run of Joe Stabler down the right-hand side of the Woodley penalty area, Stabler would hit a powerful effort narrowly wide of the goal. Just before half-time, Mateusz Kaczmarek would power a low effort wide of the Woodley goal, from distance. Early on in the second half, a long forward ball was chased down by Woodley’s centre-forward, Ben Anderson. Anderson would eventually work the space to get an effort away under pressure, but his curling effort from the edge of the home team’s penalty area would go narrowly wide of Milan Czerwonka’s left-hand post. The pace of the game had definitely picked up, during the early stages of the second half. Following a good low cross (from the left flank) into the Woodley penalty area, the ball wasn’t gathered by the goalkeeper, and the ball came to Oliwier Kaczmarek in the centre of the penalty area, but his powerful effort would hit the goalkeeper’s right-hand post.

Soon after that fine chance for Oliwier Kaczmarek to get his and PFC Victoria’s second goal of the game, Rafal Al-Swaiti would get to a pass on the edge of the Woodley box, with his first time effort going over the goal. PFC Victoria were really looking to extend their lead in this match. However, after Mateusz Kaczmarek’s decent effort from 25 yards out from the Woodley goal, had gone over, a looping cross into the home team’s penalty area, would almost result in the visitors getting an equalising goal, but for some alert defending from PFC Victoria. A couple of minutes later, skilful Woodley winger Dylan Clark would show some good ball control on the left-hand side of the PFC Victoria penalty area, with his powerful resulting effort on goal being well pushed behind by Milan Czerwonka, at his near post.

PFC Victoria were considerably more creative with the ball during the remainder of the second half, as they looked to secure the win. After Oliwier Kaczmarek had got to the ball on the right-hand side of the away team’s penalty area, his effort on goal was held by their goalkeeper, Jake Simpson. Chances continued to be created by PFC Victoria, who were passing the ball around with pace and purpose. Shortly after Joe Stabler’s forward pass had found Nataniel Zolnierek down the right-hand side of the visitors’ penalty area, with Zolnierek hitting an effort wide of the goal, PFC Victoria would then make it 2-0. Their second goal of the game arrived in the 62nd minute of the game, with Liam Stabler’s well delivered cross from the left flank being parried by Jake Simpson, with the ball then coming to newly introduced substitute, Tymoteusz Supernak, who finished emphatically into the goal, from the edge of the penalty area, 2-0.

The final two efforts of the game would both come from the home side. As after Tymoteusz Supernak had lifted an effort over the Woodley goal, from 20 yards out, soon after that effort the impressive Kacper Kloc would hit a low effort on goal (from the edge of the box), which was deflected behind for a corner-kick, off a defender. This was a professional and efficient performance from PFC Victoria London, who were creative with the ball for long spells, but who also managed the game well, limiting Woodley to not very many chances. I thought that this was a good team performance from PFC Victoria, particularly in the second half of the game, with Kacper Kloc, Oliwier Kaczmarek, and Joe Stabler just some of the impressive performers for the home side. My player of the match for this match was  the industrious and efficient PFC Victoria midfielder, Liam Stabler. As well as having a hand in the second goal of the game, Liam Stabler also had a fine game on the left-hand side of midfield for PFC Victoria.
