A summary of the 2024/25 Combined Counties Football League Division One season (so far):

The Combined Counties Football League Division One season (2024/25) is past the halfway stage, so I thought that I’d write a summary of how this very competitive step 6 league has gone, so far. The league table is really starting to take shape by this stage of the season. Westside are the league leaders, after 29 league matches played, although they have played four games more than Penn & Tylers Green, who are one point and place behind them in the table. Westside are an incredibly well organised side, who also play really good football, and they have been one of the most impressive step 6 sides that I have seen so far this season. Penn & Tylers Green are another very good side (they finished in ninth place in this league last season), who already have 59 points on the board after 25 league matches played. They have been consistently very good so far this season. Their league match against another very good team, in Windsor & Eton (on the 18th of January) could be pivotal in their quest for the league title this season.

The third placed side in the league table is Windsor & Eton, who were promoted from step 7 last season. They’re a side who when I’ve seen them this season, I have really been impressed with how they really dig deep to get results from games. They have real leaders in their squad, as well as goals and talent. Former PFC Victoria London centre-forward Pawel Kowalkowski joined Windsor & Eton during the early stages of this season, and the experienced striker has been in excellent form in front of goal for the promotion chasing club, who with so many games in hand, must surely be the favourites for the league title. Belstone and then Yateley United are the other two teams who are currently in the play-offs, going into this weekend’s round of fixtures. Belstone are another newly promoted side (from the Herts County League), who have done really so far this season. They have a great squad of players, and the league’s top scorer, the excellent Kaci Henry, plays for Belstone. He is almost on 30 goals for the season. Belstone are another real contender to secure a play-off spot this season, something which would be a huge achievement for the Hertfordshire club.

Just outside of the play-off spots are Hillingdon Borough (Hillingdon Borough finished just above the relegation zone last season), and Holmer Green (they finished in the relegation zone last season), who are both having really fine seasons. Eighth placed Brook House are also on course to improve greatly on their final position in Division One last season. In the following three resulting places in the league table, there are Molesey, Eversley & California, and Oxhey Jets, respectively. In 12th place is Langley, and then in 13th place is newly promoted side (from step 7), Staines & Lammas (Middlesex), who are doing well so far. A bit further down in the league standings are Windsor, and then Bedfont. And in 16th place, currently, are PFC Victoria London, who won promotion from the Middlesex County Football League Premier Division, in 2023/24.

PFC Victoria have recorded some impressive results so far this season, and they are another very good footballing side, who will be looking to finish as high up the table as possible in 2025. I will be covering their away league fixture against London Samurai Rovers on Saturday afternoon, on my blog. From 17th to 19th place in the league, are Colliers Wood United, Spartans Youth, and then Chalfont St Peter, all clubs who I’m sure will avoid finishing the season in the relegation places of the league. One place above the relegation zone is FC Deportivo Galicia, who have played four more games (Deportivo Galicia are two points above the relegation zone) than the 21st placed side, London Samurai Rovers. Finally, in 22nd and 23rd place in the league table at this moment in time, are the youthful Rising Ballers Kensington, and then Woodley United. There is so much to play for in this step 6 league during the remainder of this season. It is such a competitive league, and on any team’s day, they can beat any team in this league. I wish all of the clubs all the very best for the remainder of this season, and I look forward to covering more games from now until the end of the season.
