My weekly round-up of the Middlesex County Football League (step 7 to step 9):

On Saturday the first of March, there were many fixtures taking place across the various divisions of the Middlesex County Football League. In the Premier Division of the Middlesex League, there were six fixtures taking place. At Hackney Marshes, the Camden & Islington United and Stonewall game would end in a 2-2 draw. Clement Jeans and Ryan Pickles got the goals for Camden & Islington, on the day. Camden & Islington are now in third place in the league table, after 20 league matches played. Another 2-2 draw, this time at Vale Farm, saw Eagles Land Cricklewood draw 2-2 with Kodak (Harrow). For the home side, Kristo Beshiku and Terryl Harding-Nathan, got their goals.

Indian Gymkhana Club won 3-1 against Hilltop Reserves, also in the Premier Division, and London Tigers recorded a 3-2 away win over Kensington Dragons. At Brentham Club, the visiting side, Shepherds Bush, recorded a very important 4-0 win over Pitshanger Dynamo, and the league leaders, SL Benfica, won 5-2 at home to Camden United. In the Division One East & Central, FC Wood Green lost 7-2 at home to Stonewall Reserves, and title contenders FC Marylebone, won 3-1 away to Hackney Wick Reserves. And in the Division One South & West, CB Hounslow & Abbots A won 4-3 over Ickenham. Also, in the same step 8 division, Feltham lost 3-0 at home to Sporting Duet Academy, and Ruislip Town beat Hayes Town 3-0.

In the Division One North & West, Portobello lost 3-1 at home to Brookhouse, at London Marathon Playing Field. Title contenders Harrow Bhoys won 2-0 away to Hillside AFC, at London Tigers Sports Complex, and Eagles Land Cricklewood XI lost 6-1 at home to FH Whistlers. At step 9 of the Middlesex League, in The Russell Grant Division 2, FC Sunbury drew 1-1 with Townmead. And, Kodak (Harrow) Reserves would draw 1-1 with Eastcote British Legion. The final game taking place in that division, saw Southall Athletic win 1-0 away to London Saracens.

Now to the cup competitions involving Middlesex League clubs. Goals from Samuel Baigent and Luke Baldwin, saw Hayes & Hillingdon progress into the semi-finals of this season’s Anagram Records Trophy, with a good 2-1 win over a fine Chipperfield Corinthians side. In the same competition, Jolof Sports lost 4-2 at home to Hertford Heath. And in the semi-finals of The Jim Rogers President’s Division One Cup, AFC Southall won 3-0 against Wood Lane. Next Saturday, my highlighted Middlesex League game of the week, is a crucial Premier Division fixture between title contenders, SL Benfica and Hayes & Hillingdon.
