It was another busy weekend of football in the Middlesex County Football League. With all of the action happening on Saturday the 15th of March, the following round-up includes all of the results from step 7 to step 9 of the Middlesex County Football League. In the Premier Division of the Middlesex League, on the show pitch at Hackney Marshes, Camden & Islington United won 4-0 against Kodak (Harrow). This was another bit win for the north London club, as they aim to finish as high up in the Premise Division table, as possible. For Camden & Islington, Ryan Pickles, Karl Usher-Williams (Karl scored two goals on Saturday), and Clement Jeans got their goals. Camden & Islington United are currently in third place in the Premier Division standings, after 22 games played. Another north London side in Premier Division action on Saturday, was Camden United, who lost 1-0 at home to Soccer Stars Fennecs, at the New River Stadium.
A brace of goals from Charlie Casey saw league title contenders Hayes & Hillingdon, return to winning ways on Saturday, with a 2-0 win over Indian Gymkhana Club. And, at Club Des Sports, Hilltop Reserves won 4-2 at home to Kensington Dragons. At Brentham Club, Pitshanger Dynamo lost 3-2 to London Tigers, and Shepherds Bush’s fine recent form continued, as they recorded a big 2-1 home win over Eagles Land Cricklewood. Finally for the Premier Division, a goal from Yusuf Isiaq, helped Stonewall to an important 1-0 victory over Jolof Sports. That was Yusuf’s ninth goal of the season for Stonewall’s first team. In what was a very big game at the top of the Division One East & Central table (step 8), FC Marylebone would draw 1-1 at home to LBS Lions, to stay at the top of the table, on goal difference, after 15 league games played.
Also in the Division One East & Central, Alexandra Knights recorded a 4-1 away win over FC Wood Green, at Latymer School, and Stonewall Reserves’ fine form continued, with them winning 3-1 at home to Camden & Islington United Reserves. For Stonewall Reserves, Mustapha Ghardiane (he has now scored ten league goals this season) getting two goals, and David Prada getting the other goal. Also, Westminster & Kensington won 5-1 against Hackney Wick Reserves, at Vale Farm Sports Centre. In the Division One South & West, AFC Southall lost 2-2 at home to CB Hounslow & Abbots A, and against the odds, given their respective positions in the league table, Brentham recorded a hugely important 2-1 away win over the league leaders, Sporting Duet Academy.
In the Division One North & West, Bloomsbury won 4-2 at home to Eagles Land Cricklewood XI, at St James Catholic High School. Also, Brent United won 4-2 at home to Portobello, with Brookhouse winning 3-1 at home to FH Whistlers. And, the final game taking place in that division yesterday, saw Harrow Bhoys win 4-3 at home to Bessingby Park Rangers, as they continue to have a really good season. In The Russell Grant Division 2, Eastcote British Legion lost 1-0 at home to Wiseman West. Also, Kensington Dragons Blues lost 3-0 at home to Southall Athletic, and, London Saracens would draw 1-1 at home to FC Sunbury. In the two cup competitions taking place on Saturday, and involving sides in this league, Larkspur Rovers managed to beat the current leaders of the Premier Division, SL Benfica, with a 1-0 win in the quarter-finals of this season’s Alec Smith Premier Division Cup (Naeeb Alamyar got the winning goal). And finally, well done to Kodak (Harrow) Reserves, on booking their place in the final of this season’s Eddy Mee Division Two Challenge Cup, with a 1-0 semi-final victory over Townmead, on Saturday. Kodak (Harrow) Reserves will face Eastcote British Legion, in next month’s final at Uxbridge FC.
Next week, in the Middlesex County Football League, my highlighted match of the week is between Brentham and Feltham, in the Division One South & West of the Middlesex League. Both sides will be looking to win that game, with Brentham currently in bottom place in the table, and Feltham one place above them in the standings.
