Since joining Clapton Community last January (2024), Cameron Gordon, has made an impressive impact on their first team. Formerly of Balham FC, who currently play at step 5 of the FA pyramid, and also Nelson Suburbs, who play in the Southern League, in New Zealand, Cameron has some really good experience in the game. A quality, and clever forward, the 29 year old made his debut as a substitute against Newbury Forest, in a league game, last season. Gordon would score four goals from ten first team appearances for the east London club (this stat is from the club’s excellent website), in 2023/24. This season, however, from 25 competitive first team appearances, Cameron has scored seven goals, as well as providing an impressive 11 assists from those matches.
Cameron Gordon is a skilful player, who uses the ball well in forward areas. He also links the play really well, and he is very strong in the air. During one particular league game earlier on this season, Cameron was the difference against Lewisham Borough, as a second half substitute. Firstly, he scored a fine headed goal after meeting a well delivered James Briggs corner-kick delivery into the Lewisham Borough penalty area, to make it 1-1. And then, very late on in the game, he would score another excellent headed goal, following a cross to the centre of the away team’s penalty area, to win the game for Clapton Community. The forward has a variety of finishes, and as I mentioned previously, he is a very skilful player, whose fine positioning, is yet another of his best attributes. And the amount of assists so far this season, shows that he has a lot about his game.
Cameron Gordon is a very good player, and he will continue to be a very important member of Clapton Community’s first team squad, during the remaining league games of this season, as they continue to challenge for a play-off spot in the SCEFL Division One. Also, they are in the SCEFL Division One Cup final, and Cameron has definitely played his part in their run to the final. I wish Cameron and Clapton Community all the very best for the remainder of this season.
