In the Middlesex County Football League (on Saturday the 22nd of March), there were some big results for teams across the respective divisions of the league. Starting with the league’s Premier Division, as part of my weekly round-up, and Jolof Sports returned to winning ways in style, with a big 4-2 home win over the team who started the weekend as league leaders, in SL Benfica. That game took place at West Ham Memorial Ground. Kensington Dragons’ match with Stonewall, at Linford Christie Stadium, was abandoned because of the heavy rain, with Stonewall leading 2-0 at the time. At Harrow Weald Recreation Ground, Kodak (Harrow) (Ayoola Adu-Olotin and Morgan Whittick would get Kodak’s goals) would draw 2-2 with title challengers Hayes & Hillingdon, and Larkspur Rovers recorded a hugely important 4-1 win against Pitshanger Dynamo, on Saturday.
The final Premier Division fixture taking place on Saturday, saw Camden & Islington United move up to top place of the Premier Division table, with a 4-1 away win over Shepherds Bush. Despite having played three more games than SL Benfica, in the league, Camden & Islington could still challenge for the league title, in my opinion. In the Division One East & Central, league leaders LBS Lions recorded an important 3-0 away victory over Alexandra Knights, in north London. Ridhuwanullah Ibrahim, Andrei Pogan, and Arthur Lutyens, got LBS Lions’ goals on the day. The title race in that division is likely to go down to the very final games, with LBS Lions and second placed FC Marylebone (they have one game in hand over LBS Lions, and are three points behind them) both finishing the season very strongly. Also in Division One East & Central, Westminster & Kensington recorded a big 11-2 away win over FC Wood Green, and at Regents Park, Camden & Islington United Reserves won 1-0 against Stonewall Reserves. You can read my match report from that game here – https://nonleagueandacademyfootballwriter.co.uk/2025/03/22/camden-islington-united-reserves-1-0-stonewall-reserves-my-match-report-from-regents-park/
In Division One South & West, Brentham’s important home fixture against Feltham was abandoned because of the rain. Also in that division, Harrow United won 6-2 at home to CB Hounslow & Abbots A, at Brunel University Sports Complex, as they continue to challenge for the league title. Omoseni Annon, and William Puvanesan would help the league leaders (Sporting Duet Academy) to an important 2-0 away win over Hayes Town, and the Ickenham versus SL Benfica B fixture was awarded to SL Benfica B, on Saturday, as the home team were unable to field. And, a goal from Jovan Bains would help AFC Southall to a 1-0 away win over Ruislip Town, yesterday.
In the Division One North & West, Bessingby Park Rangers would draw 1-1 with Celtic (1995), and Wood Lane would record an important 5-1 away win over Brent United. For Wood Lane, Yusuf Khalaf, Mohamed-Amin Astan (Mohamed-Amin scored two goals), Abdihakim Daahir, and Walied Ibrahim, got their goals. And a brace of goals from Jacob Faradoye, helped a youthful Eagles Land Cricklewood XI side to a 2-1 away win over Brookhouse. And at Roger Bannister Sports Centre, Harrow Bhoys won 8-0 against Portobello. At step 9 of the Middlesex League (The Russell Grant Division 2) , Kodak (Harrow) Reserves won 3-2 against FC Sunbury, and Wiseman West won 2-1 away to Southall Athletic. The final game taking place in that division on Saturday, saw Eastcote British Legion win 2-1 away to Townmead, in what could prove to be a hugely important win for them, in their quest for the league title.
Congratulations to Division One East & Central side Apollo London, on reaching the final of this season’s AFA Challenge Cup final. They won 2-0 away to Hertford Heath Development, yesterday afternoon in that semi-final tie. Also, congratulations to Indian Gymkhana Club, on booking their place in the final of this season’s Alec Smith Premier Division Cup, with a 3-1 away win over London Tigers yesterday, in the semi-finals of the competition. Goals from Parwinder Kang, Alexander Owuadey, and Karan Aulakh helped them to win that game. For next week, my highlighted Middlesex League game of the week (I will be in attendance for this game) takes place at London Tigers Sports Complex, as two title challengers in the Division One North & West, in Wood Lane, and Harrow Bhoys, face each other.
