A short piece on Stonewall FC’s captain and current top goalscorer this season (2024/25) – Jay Lemonius:

Jay Lemonius is men’s first team captain of Stonewall FC of the Middlesex County Football League Premier Division. Jay made his competitive debut for Stonewall’s first team, in September 2016, in a Division One East & Central fixture against Mile End Park Rangers. Jay would score his first competitive goal for the club in that fixture, a 1-1 draw. Since then the centre-forward (he is also very capable of playing as a CAM) has scored an additional 62 competitive goals in domestic competition for Stonewall, as well as 25 goals in international competition. Jay has been in superb form so far this season, a season which could well prove to be Stonewall’s most successful ever (Jay was also part of the Stonewall side that won the 2024 IGLFA World Championships, in Argentina) in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County Football League. The clinical forward has scored a very impressive total of 14 league goals from 19 Premier Division appearances this season.

Jay Lemonius has scored some really fine goals over the years for Stonewall, but perhaps his finest of all (so far) was his outstanding bicycle kick goal against Clapton Community. However, as a centre-forward he is without doubt one of the finest and most clinical finishers in the Premier Division of the Middlesex League. With a variety of finishes, Jay is a very clever forward, who links the play well, and who also has a great understanding of when to be in the right place at the right time, inside of the penalty area. Jay also works hard off the ball, and the experienced centre-forward has put in some really good performances so far this season. Such as the league game against Hilltop Reserves, when he scored a hat-trick, his brace of goals away to Larkspur Rovers (Stonewall won that game 2-1), and also his performance against Eagles Land Cricklewood (away), when a clever finish capped off a fine individual performance on that day, for Jay.

A hugely important player for Eric Najib’s ever improving Stonewall side, Jay Lemonius has been a key player for the first team, so far this season, as Stonewall continue to try and finish as high up in the Premier Division standings, as possible.
