On Wednesday night at The Powerday Stadium (Hanwell Town FC), famous Southern Amateur Football League (Senior Division 1) side, Civil Service (Firsts), will face Combined Counties Football League Division One side Brook House, in the final of this season’s (2024/25) Middlesex FA Premier Cup. Civil Service’s first team have beaten Camden United (4-0), Bedfont FC (1-0) and AS London (3-2), on their way to the final of this prestigious competition. Step 6 side Brook House, reached the final of this season’s competition, with wins over London Samurai Rovers (5-1), Staines & Lammas (Middlesex) (4-2), and PFC Victoria London (Brook House won on penalties, after the game had finished 2-2). Both sides have had difficult runs to the final, but, both sides have of course done very well to reach the final.
I have seen every one of Civil Service’s previous cup games, in the run up to the final of this competition. And, it has been great to see them do so well in this competition, this season. John Sewell’s side are a really good, well organised, and talented side, who play their football really well as a team. They have put in some fantastic performances in the previous rounds of the competition, most notably against a very good step 6 side in AS London, in the semi-finals of the competition. They won that match 3-2, really having to dig deep and defend superbly well (they were missing a number of key players for that match), to progress to the final. Forward Matthew Huntley, Dominic McCarthy, and Sam Hale, are just some of their key players, and one thing is for sure, that they will make this game really difficult for Brook House, as they aim to win the cup. Civil Service are currently in fifth place in the top division (Senior Division 1) of the SAL, with one final league fixture still to be played.
Brook House are currently in ninth place in the Combined Counties Football League Division One standings, after 38 matches played. Brook House are another talented side, who will be very tough opposition for Civil Service in tomorrow’s final. Their top goalscorer this season, Trey Pender-Brown, has been in outstanding form this season, scoring so many goals, and he will of course be a player to watch out for tomorrow. However, this talented Brook House side go in to the cup final in good recent form, having won their last three matches. This will be a great cup final, and one in which I’m really looking forward to reporting on tomorrow night.
