A piece on the history of non-League football teams who have played their football at The Terence McMillan Stadium:

The Terence McMillan Stadium is a well known ground in the east London/Newham area (it is based in Plaistow). The football pitch which is surrounded by an athletics track, once saw the legendary George Best represent East Ham United in a fundraising match against West Ham United, in 1976. However, this historic ground, has in recent years seen a number of non-League clubs call it their home ground. Teams such as former Essex Senior League side London APSA, who played at The Terence McMillan Stadium for a number of years.

During the 2000s, locally based east London side Canning Town, played their home matches at this ground, for a while. A ground which has hosted FA Vase and FA Cup matches, The Terence McMillan Stadium also saw former Thurlow Nunn League side Fire Christian United, who used to have a number of players from London’s Brazilian community representing them, play their home matches at the ground. And, for a short while during the 2010s, Woodford Town called the Terence McMillan Stadium their home.

In more recent years this east London based stadium has been home to Athletic Newham, who played there in the Essex Senior League, with current Wycombe Wanderers player Richard Kone scoring a lot of goals at the ground. Additionally, Clapton FC also played their home matches at The Terence McMillan Stadium, before withdrawing from the FA pyramid before the start of the 2024/25 season.

Last season (2024/25), Middlesex County Football League Premier Division side Soccer Stars Fennecs played their home matches at The Terence McMillan Stadium. A ground with potential, from the start of next season (2025/26) Essex Alliance Football League Senior Division side CSM London, will be playing their home matches at The Terence McMillan Stadium. CSM London are a great community club, and they have big ambitions for their first team. The Terence McMillan Stadium will hopefully be CSM’s home ground for a number of years, and I really hope that the club can build a real fanbase at the ground. I will definitely be attending their first ever game at the ground, next season.
