A piece on Steven Carvell, Soul Tower Hamlets’ highly creative and forward thinking midfielder:

Steven Carvell is a superb and much respected player in non-League football. From east London, Steven currently plays his Saturday football for Essex Senior League side Soul Tower Hamlets, and his Sunday football for East London Ballers, of the Essex Corinthian League. Helping to contribute to both sides having historic seasons, last time out (2024/25), Steven Carvell is so often the heartbeat of the team’s in which he plays for, and represents on the pitch.

A midfield player with excellent vision, Steven spent some time with Exeter City, where he represented their Under 18 side and reserve team, early on in his footballing journey. Steven has since gone on to play for clubs in non-League football, such as Walthamstow, Saffron Walden Town, and not long ago, he was an outstanding team player for Sporting Bengal United. During his time spent playing for the club who play at Mile End Stadium, Steven Carvell more than played his part in helping Sporting Bengal United to win promotion from the Essex Senior League, to the Isthmian League (step 4), in 2023/24.

Current Soul Tower Hamlets player Steven Carvell is a forward thinking midfield player, whose range of passing, understanding and reading of the game, as well as his decision making, are some of his very best attributes. He is also capable of scoring spectacular goals, with the power that he is able to generate from his efforts on goal, from both open play and from set-pieces, being very impressive. Steven’s forward passing and weight of pass are consistently so good, and he is more than capable of unlocking a team’s defence, with a single pass.

Having achieved some tremendous things in both Saturday and Sunday football, so far, Steven Carvell will be a very important player for Soul Tower Hamlets, this coming season. His great experience of playing in the Essex Senior League, will be invaluable for this really good and ambitious Soul Tower Hamlets team.
