Zuhayr Amjad is a player for FC Baresi, whose first team play their football in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division South (step 6). A club in which Zuhayr cares for greatly, the defender who mainly plays at right-back, was actually one of the reasons why club chairman Amjad Mahmood, reformed the club some years ago now, as Zuhayr had always wanted to play for the club. And what a journey the club’s first team have been on in recent seasons. Zuhayr Amjad primarily plays at right-back, although he can also play in central-defence. He has previously played Sunday football for clubs such as AC Milano and East London Ballers, but it is at FC Baresi where the defender will be looking forward to the season ahead, with Baresi’s first team in 2025/26.
Last season (2024/25), Zuhayr played predominantly for the FC Baresi Reserves, at step 8 of the Essex Alliance Football League, captaining the side throughout the season. A very vocal captain, who leads his teammates very well from defence, Zuhayr made a big impression on the reserve team last season. For a lot of the players in the reserve side during 2024/25, it was their first time playing senior football, and the leadership and encouragement of Zuhayr, would have been very important for them. The reserves did very well to avoid relegation from their respective step 8 division last season, and they also reached the semi-finals of the Premier Division Cup, during the same season. Zuhayr also featured for the Baresi first team in their final league game of last season, away to Enfield Borough.
Zuhayr is quite an old school defender, who reads the game well and who anticipates play well. He is very tenacious and strong in the challenge, and he is a very confident defender, who is very capable of winning headers, as well as being comfortable with the ball at his feet. Zuhayr has featured prominently for FC Baresi during pre-season, and I wish him all the very best for the season ahead.
