A piece on Fred Taylor – Clapton Community’s highly consistent forward:

Fred Taylor is a player for Clapton Community FC. He had previously represented Brighton & Hove Albion at academy level, and Whitehawk FC, at youth level. Taylor has been one of Clapton Community’s most inluential players in the final third of the pitch, since joining the east London club for the start of the 2021/22 season. This was back when the club were competing in the Middlesex County Football League. A player who has contributed a lot to Clapton Community men’s senior team, through goals, assists and hard work, Fred Taylor will once again be a key player, during the 2025/26 season.

Since making his competitive debut for the club in a Middlesex League Premier Division fixture against Camden United, in August 2021, Fred has won several awards. In his first season as a player with Clapton Community, he won the management’s player of the year award, and during following seasons he has won two separate players’ player of the year awards. Fred has also won two separate supporters’ player of the year awards, as well as finishing top goalscorer for the first team during two different seasons. During one of those seasons (2022/23), he scored an incredible 33 goals, as well as providing an impressive total of 12 assists.

Fred Taylor has been such a consistent and important player for Clapton Community since joining them, but as a forward who predominantly plays off the left flank, he has real variety to his play. A superbly skilful player who likes to drive forward with the ball, he also likes to cut inside with the ball, and drift in to more central areas in the final third. Last season (2024/25) Fred Taylor was very consistent in the SCEFL Division One, scoring 24 goals in all competitions, and also providing six assists. He also played his part in helping the club to win last seasons SCEFL Division One Cup.

As I previously mentioned, Fred is great on the ball and at being inventive and unpredictable with his forward runs. However, he is a really good finisher, whose deft finishes and the variety of his finishes are impressive. Clapton Community’s Thurlow Nunn League First Division South season begins a week on Saturday, when they FC Romania away on the 26th of July. However, Fred Taylor will once again be a very important player for Clapton Community throughout this season, and I really think that Geoff Ocran’s side will do really well this season, as they look to really challenge near the top of the table. I would like to wish Fred and Clapton Community all the very best for the season ahead.
