A round-up of the opening weekend of the new 2025/26 Combined Counties Football League Division One season:

The new season of Division One of the Combined Counties Football League, started on Friday night. With London Samurai Rovers starting the season off well, with a 4-2 away win over Langley, at Arbour Park. On to Saturday, and at Reading City FC Woodley United won 2-1 at home to Wembley FC. Westside FC are an excellent footballing side, who only narrowly missed out on promotion to step 5 last season, in the Division One play-off final. They started the 2025/26 season in style yesterday, with an excellent 7-0 home win over FC Deportivo Galicia. Westside’s goals came from Zachary Johnson-Read (x2), Alex Foord (x2), Joe Robertson, Tevon Wesbster and Calum Reeves.

At Spelthorne Sports Club, the visiting side on Saturday, Rising Ballers Kensington, went 2-0 up during the first half of their fixture with Spelthorne Sports, courtesy of a brace goals from Kenrick Harriott. However, Spelthorne Sports responded well, and in the end they would get a point from this game, which finished 2-2. Newly promoted side Sport London e Benfica faced Penn & Tyler’s Green (away) on Saturday, in an entertaining game which finished 4-3 to the home side.

Molesey lost 3-1 at home to Staines & Lammas (Middlesex), and Holmer Green won 2-0 at home to Spartans Youth, also on Saturday. At The Middlesex Stadium, Hillingdon Borough lost 3-1 at home to PFC Victoria London. With goals from Serhii Hura, Kamil Zielinski and Kamil Wrobel ensuring that PFC Victoria, a side who are capable of beating any team in team in this league, started the season with three points to their name.

Chalfont St Peter and Colliers Wood United would play out a 2-2 draw yesterday, and Brook House won 3-2 in dramatic fashion, at home to Oxhey Jets. Finally, a brace of goals from Conor Molyneaux, and a goal from Sekani McCalmon, helped Bedfont to a 3-0 home win over Berks County. This promises to be a fascinating season in Division One of the Combined Counties Football League, and there were plenty of big wins for teams over the weekend.

Next week league action begins on Monday night, when Rising Ballers Kensington face Chalfont St Peter at Northwood FC. The game which I’d like to highlight as my league game of the week sees Sport London e Benfica welcome Sandhurst Town to Amersham Town FC, in what promises to be a really interesting league fixture on Saturday the 2nd of August.
