A piece on Lymore Gardens FC’s captain Ryo Brown – An excellent footballer and leader on the pitch:

Ryo Brown was recently awarded the player of the month award by Lymore Gardens, the club that he captains and leads so well on the pitch. Ryo is a classy midfielder who made his debut for Lymore Gardens against Chingford Athletic, some time ago now, and he has gone on to become such an important player for the east London side. A key player for Lymore, since joining the club. Ryo had an excellent 2024/25 season, the season in which Lymore won promotion to step 6 for the first time in their history, from the Senior Division of the Essex Alliance Football League. In the first four Thurlow Nunn League First Division matches of this season (Lymore have won all four of their league games, so far), Lymore Gardens’ influential captain has been excellent.

As a midfielder in the central areas of the pitch, Ryo Brown is more than capable of doing both sides of the game well. And with good balance to his play, the intensity in which he plays the game at, his ability to make good and important defensive interventions, and progress the ball forward, makes him such an important player. Ever since I first saw Ryo play for Lymore Gardens, he has greatly impressed. He leads his teammates well on the pitch, but his quality on the ball, and his ability to really take the game to the opposing team, makes him a highly creative player, and he also has goals to his game.

Ryo’s fine weight of pass results in him often making defence splitting through-ball passes. And, with superb players ahead of him on the pitch, such as Dylan Roberts,  the creative quality of Ryo from central areas of the pitch, really helps the Lymore forwards. A real team player, Ryo and the rest of the Lymore Gardens first team squad have adapted so well to the step up to step 6 football, so far. It will be very interesting to see whether Lymore Gardens can make it five wins from five on Friday evening, when they host NW London at The Techsoc Stadium. I wonder when the last time was that a newly promoted team to the Thurlow Nunn League First Division South, had won their first five league matches of the season.
