PFC Victoria London were looking to return to winning ways in the league, when they faced Spartans Youth at the Robert Parker Stadium on Wednesday night, in a Combined Counties Football League Division One fixture. PFC Victoria started this match in ninth place in the league standings, after seven games played. Spartans Youth started this match in 19th place in the league standings, after six games played. This step 6 match would finish in a 2-2 draw.
Spartans Youth would start this game in excellent fashion, taking the lead in the 10th minute of the match, after a positive start to proceedings. A lofted forward free-kick, from deep, would see the outrushing PFC Victoria goalkeeper Milan Czerwonka, try to clear the ball before an onrushing Spartans player could get to it. However, the goalkeeper was unable to get the ball clear, and from between 20 and 25 yards out from goal, Ahmed Abdulbagy was able to get on the ball, and finish low and accurately in to the goal, 0-1. Soon after that opening goal of the game, and Milan Czerwonka would have to tip behind a curling effort on his goal, and from the edge of his penalty area, following a well worked Spartans move.
Following that very good start to the game from Spartans Youth, PFC Victoria would start to find their rhythm in this game. A good lofted pass from Mateusz Kaczmarek, would find the run of Kamil Wrobel, down the right-hand side of the away team’s box, with Wrobel hitting a powerful and quickly taken low effort which would hit the goalkeeper’s left-hand post. Then, around five minutes later Liam Stabler would hit a low effort wide of the Spartans goal, from the edge of their penalty area. However, in the 29th minute of the game, and Spartans Youth would double their lead. Milan Czweronka’s long throw out from his box, would result in the ball going to Alex Robb, around 30 yards out from goal and close to the left flank. Alex Robb’s superb first time effort, had both curl and dip on it, with the ball brilliantly dipping in to the goal, 0-2.
PFC Victoria would try to get a goal back in this game before half-time. Volodymyr Lema would head the ball over at the back post of the Spartans Youth goal, following a good PFC Victoria corner-kick delivery. At the opposite end of the pitch Milan Czerwonka would rush out of his goal, doing well to stop an onrushing forward from getting an effort away inside of his penalty area. And just before the end of the first half, a good lofted free-kick delivery from Jakub Matwiejszyn, would result in Joshua Kirkham volleying an effort narrowly wide of the Spartans goal, at the back post.
PFC Victoria would start the second half well, and at a good pace. Relatively early on in the second half the home side would get a goal back. Roman Kindrat would deliver a good low cross from the right-hand side of the pitch, which went across the face of the Spartans goal, before being unfortunately turned in to his own goal by a Spartans defender, as he attempted to clear the ball, 1-2. A couple of minutes later and Kamil Zielinski would run on to a good low through-ball pass, down the left-hand side of the Spartans penalty area. One versus one with the Spartans goalkeeper, Zielinski’s low effort was well saved and closed down by the goalkeeper, Davis Boateng.
PFC Victoria were now really pushing for a leveller, and in the 64th minute of the game they managed to draw level. A nice pass from Volodymyr Lema, would result in him finding Roman Kindrat, out on the right-hand side of the pitch. Roman Kindrat would then deliver another fine low cross, which found Diego Munoz, who was a couple of yards out from goal. And Diego Munoz would finish low in to the goal, 2-2.
After Zac Jervis’ powerful dipping effort (from distance) was well parried by Davis Boateng in the Spartans goal, Diego Munoz would then see his powerful low effort from 20 yards out, be well gathered by the goalkeeper. During the final minutes of the game Jakub Malczuk would hit a powerful effort on goal which was well pushed behind by Davis Boateng, resulting in a late corner-kick being awarded to the home side. PFC Victoria central-defender Mateusz Kaczmarek would get to the resulting corner-kick in the centre of the box. His volleyed effort on goal was well kept out by Davis Boateng, who did well to stop PFC Victoria from scoring a late winner.
PFC Victoria did very well in the second half of this game, and after scoring two goals in relatively quick succession, it looked like they would go on and win the game. However, Spartans Youth would do well, and they did defend well as a team, with Davis Boateng making some very important saves. For Spartans Youth, I thought that Davis Boateng, Alex Robb and Bendie Katambwe Idikway were in my opinion some of their standout performers, from this game. For PFC Victoria, Diego Munoz (18) put in a really fine performance, as he showed a lot of energy, as well as inventiveness on the ball. Also, Joshua Kirkham (19) and Mateusz Kaczmarek were defensively solid in central defence. However, with two assists and some good balance to his game from the right-back position, PFC Victoria player Roman Kindrat was my player of the match on Wednesday.
