A piece on FC Baresi defender Stefan McKie – A player with a lot of potential:

Stefan McKie is a versatile full-back, who can play on either side of the pitch. Having started out in grassroots football, Stefan McKie used to play for Cockfosters Reserves, at step 7 of the non-League pyramid, in what was his first team in non-League football, prior to joining FC Baresi during the latter stages of last season (2024/25). This season (2025/26) Stefan has really impressed, doing a really good job at left-back, both defensively and in forward areas of the pitch.

Stefan is very much a two footed player, although his main position is at right-back, he has shown so far this season that he is very adept at playing at left-back, a position that he has done so well in so far this season. The 21 year old who has provided one assist during this season, has been very good on the ball, and at going on surging long forward runs from defence. With fine ability on the ball he is very difficult to get the ball off, when driving forward with the ball at pace and with good close ball control. This provides FC Baresi, who play their football at step 6 of the non-League pyramid (the Thurlow Nunn League First Division South) with a real creative outlet from defence.

Defensively, and especially with his one v one defending, which Stefan is getting better and better at by each passing game, he impresses. The youngster has a really good balance to his game, and he is only going to get better, as he gets more minutes during this season for FC Baresi. Stefan has an excellent work rate, and his tireless running (he has a lot of pace) up and down the flanks, is really crucial to the way in which FC Baresi play their football. I wish Stefan and FC Baresi (they are currently on a four game unbeaten run) all the very best for the remainder of this season. Stefan is in my opinion a player who has a lot of potential.
