There was one midweek game taking place in the Middlesex League Premier Division last week, and that was on Wednesday night. With Hayes & Hillingdon winning 2-0 at home to Harrow United, at Uxbridge FC. On to Saturday afternoon’s Premier Division action now, and starting with the Hayes & Hillingdon versus Camden United fixture, and a goal from Liam Walford would help the home side to record their second win of the week, and in doing so they became the first side to record a win against Camden United, this season. At Indian Gymkhana Club Sports Club it was the away team, London Fennecs, who got all three points, winning 6-1 against Indian Gymkhana Club. London Fennecs’ goals came from Sofian Hammouda (x3), Michael Babarinde and Mouadh Kermani (x2).
At Linford Christie Stadium Kensington Dragons won 3-1 against Harrow United, and at Harrow Weald Recreation Ground the visiting side on Saturday (Jolof Sports) won 3-1 against Kodak (Harrow). At Lord Halsbury Playing Fields Larkspur Rovers’ fine form continued, with a 4-3 win over LBS Lions. Larkspur are now up to sixth place in the league table after eight league matches played. There was a big win for Camden & Islington United, as Nick Wigmore’s side beat PFC Victoria London Reserves 8-2, at The Ranch. Two of the players on the scoresheet for Camden & Islington on Saturday, were Samuel Tommy (x2) and Ryan Pickles (x2).
At Club Des Sports Sporting Duet Academy and Wood Lane would play out a 2-2 draw, and the final Premier Division match taking place on Saturday would see Stonewall record a big 3-0 home win over Eagles Land Cricklewood, in east London. For Stonewall, Coltrane Morley-Williams, Moses Seitler and Logan Sritharan (this was his first goal for the club), got their goals on the day. At step 8 of the Middlesex County League Feltham continued their excellent start to the season, with a 4-0 away in over Barnes, in Division One West. Sam Riddett was once again on the scoresheet for Feltham on Saturday, taking his tally up to 8 league goals from three appearances. And at Pole Hill Open Spaces CB Hounslow & Abbots A recorded a big 9-1 victory over Uxbridge Athletic.
There were three games taking place in Division One Central on Saturday. Casual Ballerz recorded a 4-3 win over Brent United, and at the Brentham Club the away side on Saturday, FH Whistlers, won 3-1 against Brentham. The final game taking place in Division One Central, saw Celtic (1995) record a 7-1 win over London Athletic. In The Russell Grant Division 2, goals from Bradley-Ross Rance (x2) and Jerome Williston helped top of the table Old Isleworthians to a 3-1 home win over Heston. Also in The Russell Grant Division 2, at London Marathon Playing Field, R F Elite won 4-1 at home to Hounslow Lions, and Inv3ntive won 1-0 away to Southall Athletic. Staying with the same division, Feltham Reserves beat Sudbury Court 5-2 (away).
In the Jeff Nardin & Combination Division (step 10) there was a big league win for AFC Heathrow, who beat Old Isleworthians Reserves 7-2. CB Hounslow & Abbots Reserves and OHM Sports played out a 4-4 draw, and FH Whistlers Originals won 6-0 against Indian Gymkhana Club Reserves. Also, Holy Rood won 2-1 away to The Isleworth, and at Brunel University Sports Complex, West London Wanderers beat Feltham Town 3-1.
In cup competition on Saturday, Hackney Wick Reserves won 4-2 away to YTS in the first round of this seasons London FA Junior Cup. In a first round tie of the Middlesex FA Junior Cup, Kodak (Harrow) Reserves won 5-3 at home to Winchmore Hill 3rds. Kye Shelley-McPherson (x4) and Leon Burnett got Kodak’s goals on the day. In the first round of this seasons The Jim Rogers President’s Division One Cup, there were nine cup ties taking place on Saturday. Ickenham would win their first round tie 2-1 against London Tigers, FC Marylebone won 4-0 at home to Explorers, and Bloomsbury beat Ruislip Town 5-3, as they returned to winning ways.
Also in The Jim Rogers President’s Division One Cup, Bessingby Park Rangers progressed in to round two, with a 3-1 home win over LBS Lions Reserves. After a 2-2 draw in regulation time, Harrow Bhoys (last seasons finalists) would beat Apollo London 4-3 on penalties, in round one. Ruislip Rangers’ fine start to the season continued, as they won 3-0 at home to FC Wood Green, and also in round one, last seasons winners – AFC Southall, won 3-1 away to Edgware & Kingsbury Reserves. Wiseman West won 2-0 at home to Soccer Stars (Youth), and finally, after a 0-0 draw in regulation time Townmead won 3-2 on penalties against Hayes Town, to make it in to round two.
This week, on Saturday afternoon, my highlighted Middlesex League game of the week is a Premier Division fixture between two early Premier Division title contenders, in Hayes & Hillingdon and London Fennecs.
