Starting with the Premier Division of the Middlesex County Football League, and on Saturday of last week, the first result would see two title contenders, in Eagles Land Cricklewood and Hayes & Hillingdon, play out a 1-1 draw. At Brunel Unviersity Sports Complex, goals from Ryan Pickles (x3) and Jake Lamour-Johnson, helped Camden & Islington United to another good league victory, as they beat Harrow United (away) 4-1. Another title contender, in Stonewall, also won on Saturday, as they won 4-2 away to Indian Gymkhana Club. And at Linford Christie Stadium, Kensington Dragons beat Kodak (Harrow) 4-0.
Staying with the Premier Division of the Middlesex County League, and Larkspur Rovers became the first side this season, to beat Sporting Duet Academy, as they won 1-0 at home to them on Saturday. At Club Des Sports, LBS Lions beat PFC Victoria London Reserves 2-1, and finally from the Premier Division, there was a big game taking place at the Terence McMillan Stadium on Saturday. As top of the league standings London Fennecs beat Camden United 1-0, courtesy of a goal from Mouadh Kermani.
In Division One East (step 8), Bloomsbury lost 2-1 at home to Stonewall Reserves, whilst there was a thrilling 3-3 draw played out between Edgware & Kingsbury Reserves and Apollo London. FC Marylebone won 3-2 at home to Hackney Wick Reserves, with LBS Lions Reserves beating FC Wood Green 4-2. And in a big game between Soccer Stars Ascenders and Westminster & Kensington, it was Soccer Stars Ascenders who got all three points (they won 2-1), making it five league wins from five in the league this season.
In Division One West, CB Hounslow & Abbots A won 5-4 in a high scoring game with Explorers. In the same division Hayes Town and Ickenham played out a 4-4 draw, whilst AFC Southall won 2-1 away to Ruislip Town. And there was a good result for Feltham FC, who beat Townmead 3-1, away.
In Division One Central there was another big win for Bessingby Park Rangers, who made it six wins from six in the league, with a 2-0 away win against Harrow Bhoys. FH Whistlers beat Celtic (1995) 2-1, with Brent United continuing to do well, with a great 9-1 win over London Athletic (away). London Tigers recorded their first league win of the season, as they beat Brentham 5-2.
In The Russell Grant Division 2, Hounslow Lions beat Inv3ntive 4-2, and there was yet another good win for Kodak (Harrow) Reserves, who beat Heston 3-1. Kodak (Harrow) Reserves are now five points clear at the top of that division. The final game taking place in that division on Saturday, saw Southall Athletic beat Sudbury Court 5-3.
In The Jeff Nardin & Combination Division, Kensington Dragons Blues won 3-2 away to CB Hounslow & Abbots 3rds. Additionally, Holy Rood won 7-3 against Indian Gymkhana Club Reserves, top of the table Kodak (Harrow) 3rds beat AFC Heathrow 4-2, there was a big win for Feltham Town, who won 10-3 away to OHM Sports, and Old Isleworthians Reserves beat The Isleworth 4-2.
In cup competitions involving sides from the Middlesex County League, we start with a cup tie involving Old Isleworthians. The west London club would progress into round three of the AFA Minor Cup, on penalties against Civil Service 4ths, after that game had finished 3-3. Barnes lost 2-1 away to AFC Surrey, in the first round of the Surrey County FA Intermediate Cup, and in round one of the Ascot & District Charity Challenge Cup, Uxbridge Athletic won 3-2 over Chalvey Sports.
In round two of this season’s Jim Rogers President’s Division One Cup, Wiseman West beat Ruislip Rangers 3-1. And in round one of the Jeff Nardin & Combination Cup, FH Whistlers won 2-1 away to West London Wanderers. The game which I would like to highlight, which is taking place in the Middlesex County League this week on Saturday, is the Camden derby (in the Premier Division), as Camden & Islington United take on Camden United at Hackney Marshes in a big league game.
