In a big Combined Counties Football League Division One fixture, Wembley faced PFC Victoria London on Tuesday evening, at Vale Farm. Wembley would start this game in ninth place in the league table after 19 league matches played. PFC Victoria London started this game in third place in the league table, after 20 league matches played. This step 6 match was won 2-0 by PFC Victoria, who played the majority of this game with ten men.
Early on in this match and PFC Victoria player Kacper Kloc would get to the ball on the edge of the Wembley penalty area, following a free-kick for the away side. He would see his low effort on goal be well parried away by the Wembley goalkeeper, Michael Power-Simpson. A couple of minutes later and despite a fairly even start to the game, PFC Victoria would again go close to taking the lead. Diego Munoz would receive the ball just outside of the Wembley penalty area, before quickly hitting a powerful, dipping effort, which went narrowly wide of Michael Power-Simpson’s left-hand post.
Wembley would soon start to create some good goalscoring chances, as the game progressed. Shortly after Wembley player Ned Jones had hit a powerful effort, from the right-hand side of the PFC Victoria penalty area, which was well parried away by Filip Chalupniczak in the PFC goal, he would then make another really important save, soon after. This time Filip Chalupniczak would do really well to stop Ned Jones’ effort on his goal, after he had received the ball one v one with the goalkeeper inside of the PFC penalty area.
Filip Chalupniczak had started this game excellently for the away side, and he would soon make another quality save. This time the he would get down really well to make a really fine save from Sam Langan’s powerful low effort from inside of the box, following a Wembley free-kick, and Filip Chalupniczak would then do well to clear the ball away. In the 28th minute of this game, PFC Victoria’s captain, Jakub Malczuk, was shown a straight red card following a challenge on a Wembley player. However, not long before half-time, and PFC Victoria were awarded a penalty, following a handball inside of the Wembley box, by a Wembley defender.
For the penalty, Kamil Zielinski would curl a low effort into the bottom left-hand corner of the Wembley goal, despite Michael Power-Simpson managing to get a hand to the ball, and being unlucky not to have kept it out, 1-0. PFC Victoria would go on to start the second half quite well, considering that they only had ten players out on the pitch. Kamil Zielinski would glance a header wide of the Wembley goal, after connecting with Jakub Matwiejszyn’s curling cross into the penalty area, before Pawel Kowalkowski came very close to making it 2-0 to the away team.
For that chance for Pawel Kowalkowski, the PFC Victoria striker would meet Diego Munoz’s good lofted pass to the right-hand side of the Wembley penalty area. With two Wembley defenders in front of him, he would then cleverly twist and turn with the ball to work the space, before powering a low effort narrowly wide, across the goalkeeper’s right-hand post. From then on however, it was pretty much all Wembley, as they really made the ten men of PFC Victoria work so hard to maintain their 1-0 lead.
Impressive Wembley forward Ned Jones would, after getting onto the ball following a lofted pass over the top of the away team’s defence, lob an effort (from just outside of the PFC box) over the outrushing goalkeeper, with the ball then bouncing just wide of his goal. A couple of minutes later, and with Wembley dominating possession of the ball, Sam Langan would see his low effort from inside of the PFC box, be excellently kept out by the outstretching Filip Chalupniczak, before Wembley again came close to getting an equaliser.
For the next chance that Wembley created, the impressive Ned Jones would take the ball forwards at pace down the right-hand side of the pitch before whipping a good low cross into the PFC penalty area. After finding Sam Langan in a bit of space inside of the box, the Wembley striker’s low first time effort would go just wide of Filip Chalupniczak’s left-hand post. Quite incredibly, after having to defend so well through pretty much the entirety of the second half, PFC Victoria would go on to score a very late (in the 93rd minute of the game) second goal.
Their second goal of the game arrived very soon after Filip Chalupniczak had made a smart save Alfie Bates’ powerful and low whipped free-kick effort at his near post, from close to 30 yards out. And the goal which made sure of yet another important win for PFC Victoria, came from a counter forwards with the ball, against the run of play. PFC Victoria substitute Isaac Tano would receive Kacper Kloc’s pass on the left-hand side of the Wembley box, before doing well on the ball and then playing the ball across to Kacper Kloc, in the centre of the box. The PFC Victoria midfielder would then finish first time and low into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal, 0-2.
PFC Victoria defended ever so well as a team, following the sending off of Jakub Malczuk, and it was a heroic defensive performance during the second half of this game from them. However, were it also not for the many top saves of their goalkeeper, Filip Chalupniczak (he was my player of the match) who had an excellent game, then Wembley (Ned Jones was my Wembley player of the match) could have well have won this game. But, take nothing away from PFC Victoria, who managed the game really well with ten men, and they continue to do ever so well as a team in their second season at step 6. Carlos Angulo, Jakub Matwiejszyn, Roman Proshak and Voldoymyr Lema were outstanding defensively for PFC Victoria on Tuesday. Up next for PFC Victoria is an away league fixture with London Samurai Rovers, on Saturday.
