A piece on how the 2025/26 Middlesex County Football Sunday League Premier Division is going, this season:

The 2025/26 Premier Division season of the Middlesex County Football Sunday League, is really shaping up to be a very interesting one as we enter February, and a really decisive time in the season. In my role as league press officer for both the Saturday and Sunday leagues of the Middlesex County League, I though that I’d write a piece on how the Premier Division of the Sunday League is going. Leading the way in this ten team division after ten league matches played, is a very good Hayes End Athletic side. They have won nine out of ten league games this season, and they lead second place side and last season’s Division One champions Club Assyria, by one point in the table, having played one game less than them in the league.

Hayes End Athletic’s top goalscorer at this stage of the season, is a well known player who has previously played in the Saturday league of the Middlesex League, in talented SL Benfica player Marco Raposo, who has eight goals from eight league appearances for Hayes End Athletic this season. Club Assyria have a very good squad of players, and as well as doing well in the league this season, their first team are also doing well in cup competitions, including in their county cup competition. They will really challenge Hayes End Athletic for the title during the remainder of this season, in my opinion.

Club Assyria’s top goalscorer is Bilal Butt, who is also the league’s top goalscorer with 19 league goals in 11 Premier Division appearances. One of the very best goalscorers in the history of the Middlesex County League, Bilal played for Club Assyria during their days in Saturday football. A good All Nations team are in third place in the table, with Ivy Leaf WD (they are two places below them) having another legendary goalscorer from the Middlesex County League, in their team, in former LPOSSA player Marcus Gibbs-Greenidge.

Experienced Gunnersbury Park based side One Brotherhood are on 14 points from 12 league matches played, and they are one place below All Nations in the league standings. Venceremos and then Greg Ward Senior Open Cup semi-finalists, Hounslow Wolves, are below Ivy Leaf WD in the table. And then, in order, are Whitton Wanderers, Grenfell Athletic and CB Hounslow & Abbots, who make up the standings. There is a lot to play for at both ends of the Premier Division during the rest of this season, and in cup competitions as well. I wish all of the Premier Division sides the very best of luck for the rest of season 2025/26.

Finally, I’d just like to mention and highly recommend the very well produced documentary on TNT Sports about Grenfell Athletic, whose Sunday team feature in the documentary. It’s called Beacon of Hope: The Grenfell Athletic Story, and it can be watched on TNT Sports. I wish Grenfell Athletic all the very best for what they are doing across their club, as they continue to grow.
