My five non-League/grassroots football matches of this weekend (which are taking place in the London area) are included below. And there are some fantastic games which are taking place in the lower levels of non-League football, and in grassroots Sunday League football, this weekend.
London Fennecs versus Eagles Land Cricklewood:
At the Terence McMillan Stadium, in east London, there is a big Middlesex County Football League Cup tie taking place this Saturday (kick-off is at 2pm). As London Fennecs and Eagles Land Cricklewood face each other in a semi-final tie of this season’s The Alec Smith Premier Division Cup. London Fennecs are currently in fifth place in the Premier Division of the Middlesex League, after 17 matches played. And London Fennecs, are currently doing well in two cup competitions this season, as well as being very much in their league title race. Eagles Land are also doing well in the league, and they are one place above London Fennecs in the table, although they’ve played four league matches more than them, at this stage of the season.
This will be a good game of cup football between two fine footballing sides on Saturday, with a place in next month’s final at Uxbridge FC, at stake.
PFC Victoria London versus Woodley United:
This important step 6 Combined Counties Football League Division One fixture on Saturday afternoon at 3pm, is between a PFC Victoria London side who are very much looking to secure their place in the league play-offs, and a Woodley United side who are also very much in the play-off contest, having played three games less than PFC Victoria in the league. This game, which will take place at the Robert Parker Stadium (Ashford Town FC), is between a PFC Victoria side, who are doing so well in their second season at step 6, in fourth place in the league table, and a Woodley United side, who if they win on Saturday, will go level on points with PFC in the league. A highly competitive game awaits!
Baddoo FC versus Hacks Gardens FC:
Two very good sides in the Hackney & Leyton Sunday Football League take to the pitch on Sunday morning, at the legendary Hackney Marshes. Baddoo are currently top of the Premier Division table, with the team who they are facing on Sunday, Hacks Gardens, in fifth place in the league’s premier division. There have been some great games between these two sides already, and this should be a really entertaining game of football, which will definitely interest followers of Sunday league football.
Hayes End Athletic versus Club Assyria:
In a quarter-final tie of this season’s The Danny Sharma Premier Division Cup, top of the Premier Division table, of the Middlesex County Football League (Sundays), Hayes End Athletic, face Club Assyria on Sunday morning, at Brunel University Sports Centre. Both sides are currently competing for the Premier Division title, this season. However, in a one off cup tie, this will be a highly competitive game of cup football, with Club Assyria knowing, in the league, that if they win both of their league games in hand over a very good Hayes End Athletic side, then they will go one point behind them in the league table. But, all focus will be on this Sunday’s cup game!
Chiswick Celtic versus FC Phoenix:
In this semi-final tie of this season’s John Andrews Division One Memorial Cup, Chiswick Celtic and FC Phoenix face each other at King’s House Sports Ground on Sunday morning (the game starts at 10:30am). In what will be my first time seeing both of theses sides, a really interesting cup tie awaits on Sunday, between top of the Division One table (of the Middlesex County Football League Sundays), Chiswick Celtic, and FC Phoenix, of the same league division. FC Phoenix won 8-1 away to Chiswick Celtic on the opening day of the league season, with Chiswick Celtic then going on to beat FC Phoenix 7-0 towards the end of last year.
