In a Combined Counties Football League Division One fixture at Spelthorne Sports Club on Thursday evening, Spelthorne Sports faced PFC Victoria London. The home side, Spelthorne Sports, started this game in 18th place in the league table (after 37 matches played). And they came up against a PFC Victoria side who started this league fixture in the play-off positions, in fourth place, after 40 matches played. PFC Victoria would importantly win this game 2-0.
During the opening couple of minutes of this game, and PFC Victoria winger Adam Dougui would win the ball off a Spelthorne player, just past the halfway line. Adam Dougui would then drive forwards with the ball, to the edge of the Spelthorne box, before hitting a low effort wide, across goal. Spelthorne Sports would then have an effort at the opposite end of the pitch, be saved by PFC Victoria goalkeeper Milan Czerwonka, before PFC Victoria took the lead in the sixth minute of the game. As Kacper Kloc’s inviting corner-kick delivery was punched partially clear by Spelthorne’s goalkeeper, Ben Grummitt. However, Oscar Kruczkiewicz would then finish really well on the half-volley, high into the goal and from the edge of the box, 0-1.
Spelthorne were still competing well in this contest, despite conceding an early goal to the away side. After Seanpierre Ortiz’s difficult, bouncing effort from distance, on the PFC Victoria goal, was well parried away by Milan Czerwonka, there was quite a wait for the next real goalscoring chance of the game. But, just before half-time, in the 40th minute of the match, PFC Victoria would double their advantage in the game. The impressive Oscar Kruczkiewicz, would show some superb, quick feet to progress the ball across from the right-hand side of the busy Spelthorne box. He would then play the ball across to Kacper Kloc, who from the centre of the penalty area, would finish high into the roof of the goal, 0-2.
On the stroke of half-time and following Spelthorne player Freddie Solly’s lofted free-kick delivery into the PFC Victoria penalty area, the ball would fall for Sean McDonnell, who hit a powerful effort narrowly over Milan Czerwonka’s goal. That was to be the final chance of the first half. After quite an uneventful start to the second half of this game, PFC Victoria substitute Diego Munoz would start to make a good impression on the game. Soon after being substituted on in the game, Diego Munoz would win the ball in midfield before taking it forwards and then playing a good through-ball pass to Nataniel Zolnierek. One versus one with Ben Grummitt inside of the Spelthorne box, Nataniel Zolnierek’s low effort on goal was well kept out by the outrushing goalkeeper.
Next, and Aleksy Czekalski’s whipped effort, from the left flank, which was heading towards the top right-hand corner of Ben Grummitt’s goal, and had to be really well pushed over by the Spelthorne goalkeeper. PFC Victoria were continuing to control the game well, as they managed their two goal lead relatively comfortably. The final real chance of the game was created by PFC Victoria substitute Roman Virstiuk, who showed good persistence inside of the Spelthorne penalty area to win the ball off a defender. He would then play the ball across to the onrushing Jean-Paul Munoz, who from the centre of the box, would hit a low effort off the goalkeeper’s right-hand post, from close range.
During the very latter stages of the game PFC Victoria would see two players sent off by the referee, in quick succession. Firstly Volodymyr Lema was shown a straight red card by the referee, before Roman Virstiuk was shown a second yellow card for a foul on a Spelthorne player, a couple of minutes later. However, PFC Victoria managed to see the final moments of the game out, despite having nine players out on the pitch. This was a good team performance from PFC Victoria, who controlled the game well, and after going 2-0 up during the first half, they would defend and keep that lead well during the second half of the game.
For my player of the match award on Wednesday (Ben Grummitt was my Spelthorne Sports player of the match), I’m going to award it to PFC Victoria midfielder Oscar Kruczkiewicz. He made a great impression on the first half of the game, scoring one goal and providing an assist (he did ever so well to provide the assist for PFC Victoria’s second goal of the game), and he was very positive with the ball. PFC Victoria players Adam Dougui, Damian Kielbasa and Kacper Kloc were also contenders on Wednesday, for my player of the match award.
