In Division One of the Middlesex County Football League (Sundays), there are seven teams competing in that particular division of the league. League leaders, Egham Stags, and second place side Chiswick Celtic are tied on 34 points at the top end pf the division. Egham Stags have played 14 league matches, with Chiswick Celtic having played two more games at this stage of the season. In fact, both those sides have also made it to this month’s the John Andrews Division One Memorial Cup final at Uxbridge FC, which I will be mentioning more about later on in this piece. Both Egham Stags and Chiswick Celtic are very good sides in this division, but also still very much in the title race is third place side Hennessys, who have 27 points after 13 league matches played. 

11 points separates the third to fourth placed teams in Division One, with Hounslow Wolves XI on 16 points after 14 league matches played, and in fourth place. Then, from fifth to seventh place in the table respectively, there is Southall based side FC Phoenix, Parkfield, and then Ickenham Hams. It’s been a competitive season so far, with three teams still competing for the title and promotion to the league’s Premier Division. That leads me on to this season’s John Andrews Division One Memorial Cup final, which takes place on Sunday the 19th of April, a game which I’ll definitely be in attendance for. It promises to be highly competitive, and having covered Chiswick Celtic’s semi-final tie with FC Phoenix on my blog, I’m really looking forward to seeing how they’ll compete with Egham Stags on the day.

Chiswick Celtic played some great football on the day against FC Phoenix, and they have both experience and quality in their side. Although I am yet to watch an Egham Stags game, I’ve heard some good things about their side, who beat Parkfield in the other semi-final tie last month. It will certainly be an interesting cup final which will be played in front of a good crowd at Honeycroft, and regarding the league, it will also be interesting to see how the final matches in that division play out, during the remainder of this season.
