On Saturday afternoon at 3pm (at HSBC Sports and Social Club, in New Beckenham) London Fennecs and Nottsborough will compete to be the winners of this seasons’ (2025/26) prestigious Amateur FA Senior Cup, in Saturday’s final. This prestigious cup competition is competed for by some excellent teams, and this seasons’ cup final is between a non-League side, in London Fennecs, who are currently in third place in the Middlesex County Football League Premier Division (step 7) table, and still very much in the title race. And the other team, Nottsborough, are very well known and respected within the Southern Amateur Football League, with the current SAL Senior Division 1 leaders, one of the very best sides in the SAL.
London Fennecs were awarded a home walkover in round one of this seasons’ Amateur FA Senior Cup, against Saint City. They would then face Bromleians (away) in round two, which they won in comprehensive fashion, 3-0. In round three the club who play their home matches in east London, were handed a tough away draw to SAL side Winchmore Hill. In an entertaining and eventful game of football, London Fennecs would win that cup tie 6-3. Then in the quarter-finals of the competition, London Fennecs would travel to Charterhouse School, for another tough game, this time away to Arthurian League side Old Carthusians. Another really good game, London Fennecs had to play the majority of the game with ten men, but they deservedly won 2-1, in extra time.
In the semi-finals, Zack Bettache’s London Fennecs side beat SAL side Alexandra Park 3-1 (away) to reach this Saturday’s cup final in south London. Nottsborough entered this Amateur FA competition in round two, having been given a bye into the second round. They would beat last seasons’ SAL Senior Division 1 winners, West Wickham, 1-0 away (after extra time), in round two. In the third round of the cup, Nottsborough would win 2-1 away to Rob Roy Rovers, before then impressively winning 4-0 away to Civil Service, in the quarter-finals. This set up a potentially difficult semi-final tie away to Honourable Artillery Company, which Nottsborough won in emphatic fashion, 6-0, to take them into Saturday’s cup final.
This will be a really competitive cup final on Saturday, between two well respected sides within their respective leagues. I am expecting a great game of football, between two sides who play a very good style of football. I would like to wish both teams all the very best of luck for Saturday’s cup final, which I will be covering on my blog.
