The prestigious Senior Division Cup final, of the Essex Alliance Football League, will be contested by Waltham Forest Borough and CSM London on Thursday evening, at Dagenham & Redbridge FC. Promising to be a good and competitive cup final, only three points separated third place Waltham Forest Borough and fourth place CSM London in the Senior Division standings, after 30 league matches played this’s season.
Halil Hassan’s Waltham Forest Borough side beat Dagenham United (away) 3-0 in round one of the Senior Division Cup, which took them through to the quarter-finals stage of the competition, where they met Ongar Town FC, at Wodson Park (Ware FC). And Waltham Forest Borough would win that cup tie 5-1, before then beating Frenford Development (away) 1-0 in the semi-finals of the competition.
Will Brobby’s CSM London side would face Kulture FC at the New River Stadium in the first round of the Senior Division Cup, a game in which they won 1-0. After a 1-1 draw away to Haringey Borough Reserves in the quarter-finals, CSM would win that tie on penalties, to progress into the semi-finals. And having started their semi-final tie away to Saint City really well, they would have to play much of the second half with ten men, as the result of a sending off. But, CSM showed great character, continuing to play their football really well, to advance into this Thursday’s cup final.
I think that this will be a very close game of football, between two very good step 7 sides. I’m looking forward to covering the game on my blog, and I would like to wish both sides all the very best of luck for the game.
