Chadwell Heath Spartans are the current holders of the Essex Alliance Football League Fenton Cup, having won the prestigious cup competition last season (2024/25). They will face last seasons’ runners-up FC Petrocub London, for the second season running on Saturday evening (kick-off is at 6pm at Dagenham & Redbridge FC). Aaron Hunwicks’ Chadwell Heath Spartans side finished the Senior Division season in fifth place, with FC Petrocub London finishing the season as runners-up to the league champions, London Harts United.
Chadwell Heath Spartans entered the Fenton Cup in the second round, where they were drawn at home to Premier Division side North East Lions. And the Spartans would progress into round three of the competition, with a 3-0 win. In round three the club who play their home matches at Frenford FC, would go on to beat Old Esthameians (5-1), before then beating Athletic Newham Under 23s (5-2) in the quarter-finals. Then in the semi-finals, they would impressively win 3-0 (at home) against a strong Waltham Forest Borough, to make it into the Fenton Cup final for a second season in a row.
FC Petrocub London would beat Haringey Borough Reserves 1-0 (away) in round one of this seasons’ Fenton Cup. Wins against Manford Way Reserves (3-1 at home), and then Motormen (6-1 at home), would take them into the quarter-finals, where they faced Fairlop Rovers at home. And after convincingly winning that quarter-final tie 5-0, FC Petrocub London would then beat Inter Newbury (2-1 away) in the semi-finals to make it to another Fenton Cup final. Promising to be another good cup final, which will definitely be very competitive, I will be covering this cup final on Saturday. And I’m looking forward to the game.
