As league press officer of the Middlesex County Football League, I will continue to write about some of the league’s former clubs, some of which are now playing higher up in the non-League pyramid. NW London FC were founded in 2015, by friends Samir Naji (club chairman) and Wassim Khan (current first team manager). During the club’s early days, they would play Sunday league football, before eventually moving into Saturday football, when in 2017, they joined the Middlesex County Football League (step 8).
During the 2017/18 season, NW London would finish in seventh place in the Middlesex County Football League Division One (Central and East). Both Samir Naji and Wassim Khan both made several appearances for the club during that 2017/18 season. Finishing in third place in a Division One (Central and East) which included title winners Clapton Community, a team who would they would have some great games with over the years, NW London were subsequently promoted to the Premier Division for the following season.
After two seasons in the Premier Division which were curtailed relatively early on (in 2019/20 and 2020/21), NW London would, in 2021/22, go on to have a fantastic season. At step 7 (the Premier Division) they won the title (their top league goalscorer was Kaue Da Silva), with six points over the next best placed side, Brentham, but they would also win two cup competitions, in the Anagram Records Trophy and the Middlesex FA Intermediate Cup. Known and admired by their opponents for being a really good footballing side, NW London would win promotion to the Thurlow Nunn League First Division South, for the 2022/23 season.
Next month, NW London will begin their fifth season in the very competitive Thurlow Nunn League First Division South, and I continue to wish them well. I’ve long admired NW London for their footballing style of play, and they’ve had some very good teams so far, in their relatively short history. Both Samir and Wassim have done a very admirable job at growing the club to where they are in non-League football, so far. And another big season awaits for the club, in 2026/27, whose home ground continues to be the very good Coles Park Stadium, which they ground-share with Haringey Borough. I always enjoy attending NW London matches, and I look forward to covering some more of their games next season.
NW London will be competing in the first ever Game Cam Cup, on Saturday the 11th of July at Rayners Lane FC. A really interesting pre-season tournament, other teams competing in the one day tournament are Hilltop, Shepherds Bush, and London Fennecs.
