Talented young footballer Richard Arhin is about to start his first season with step 6 Thurlow Nunn League First Division South side FC Baresi. I did a post-match interview with Richard following FC Baresi’s 1-1 draw with fellow step 6 side PFC Victoria London on Tuesday, in north London.

Could you talk me through a bit about your background in football, prior to joining FC Baresi this summer?

Richard: I’ve played Sunday league football for Stoke Newington United, before playing for Impact FC. And then last season (2025/26) I played for SP United, which was my first season in non-League football. I scored 37 goals for SP United last season, as well as getting six assists, so it was a good season for me personally, and for the team. At the end of last season I played for step 7 side Fairlop Rovers, scoring three goals for them in five games.

How would you describe yourself as a footballer?

Richard: I would say that I’m a fast player who is good on the ball. I have an eye for goal, but I can defend as well.

What did you make of the pre-season friendly match with PFC Victoria London, this evening?

Richard: I think that it was a good game. The team played well, and they also played the ball well. We could have scored more goals as we had the chances, but overall it was a good performance from us as a team.

How have you found being at FC Baresi so far?

Richard: It’s been good. The players and coaches have all been welcoming, and I’m really enjoying being here at this club.

What are some of your personal hopes and aims for the 2026/27 season?

Richard: I’m hoping to contribute with goals and assists, but I’m also hoping to be versatile and available for the team. So hopefully we can do well as a team.
