A preview of the 2026/27 Hackney & Leyton Sunday Football League Premier Division season:

The following piece, is a preview of the famous Hackney & Leyton Sunday Football League Premier Division season (2026/27). Last season’s Premier Division champions FC Nyva, will undoubtedly be considered as one of the favourites to win the title again this season. A very good team, they also won the 2025/26 season’s Dickie Davies Cup, over Boundary Estate. Baddoo FC finished one place and nine points behind the Premier Division champions, last season. They also finished as runners-up in the Albert Daniels (Senior) Cup, in 2025/26. Baddoo have recorded some impressive results in pre-season, along with Deano Elull’s Hackney Borough (last season’s third place side) side, who will be really challenging for the title this season. And you can read more about Hackney Borough in a recent interview which I did with Deano, here: https://nonleagueandacademyfootballwriter.co.uk/2026/08/17/an-interview-with-hackney-borough-manager-deano-elull/

Another well respected side in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive league season, is City East. They finished last season three points behind Hackney Borough, and they won the Albert Daniels (Senior) Cup over Baddoo. Hacks Gardens FC have sadly folded, and they won’t be competing in the Hackney & Leyton League for season 2026/27. However, returning to Sunday football for this season after a short break, are Hatch Lane United. And it’s great to see them add further quality to the league, as they rejoin sunday football. Boundary Estate will be looking to improve further on their sixth place finish in the table last season, as they look to challenge for the title again. However, they did win last season’s Hackney Marshes Super Cup. Below them in the table last season, were Clapton Community (Development) and Azteca, respectively.

I wish all of the Hackney & Leyton Premier Division sides the very best of luck for the season ahead. I am pleased to announce that I’ll be writing a weekly results round-up of all the Hackney & Leyton Sunday Football League action throughout the 2026/27 season. And I will be covering a good number of games featuring teams from the league, in 2026/27. It will also be interesting to see which of the Premier Division side’s clubs have entered the 2026/27 FA Sunday Cup.

The teams who will be competing in the 2026/27 Hackney & Leyton Sunday Football League: Azteca, Baddoo, Boundary Estate, City East, Clapton Community (Development), FC Nyva, Hackney Borough, Hatch Lane United.
