During last week there was over 30 competitive matches featuring teams from the Middlesex County Football League. My latest league round-up starts with last Thursday’s Premier Division fixture at The Den, between Kensington Dragons and LBS Lions which the home side won 4-2. On to Saturday’s Premier Division action, and Apollo London got back to winning ways with an important 2-1 home victory over Camden & Islington United. The league fixture which I was in attendance for last Saturday, was the Camden United versus Explorers game, which Leon Louis’s Camden United side won in emphatic fashion (9-1). In addition, goals from Luke Baldwin and Liam Walford helped third place side Hayes & Hillingdon to a 2-1 win over Larkspur Rovers.
Also in the Premier Division, Kodak (Harrow) won 4-0 at home to LBS Lions. And a good performance from Kensington Dragons (Alex Owuadey scored a hat-trick in this game), saw them win 5-2 away to Sporting Duet. Hayes & Yeading B also got a good win at the weekend, as they won 2-1 away to an inform Stonewall side. With Wood Lane continuing to impress, as they won 8-1 against Indian Gymkhana Club. On to the Division One East now, and league debutants Athenians beat another team who recently joined the league in FC Starz, 4-2 in Islington. FC Marylebone continued their 100% record with a 1-0 win over Stonewall Reserves, and goals from Aneese Messaoudi and Mouadh Kermani helped Soccer Stars Ascenders to a 2-1 away win over Rose FC.
In the Division One West, the Ickenham versus Townmead fixture finished 1-0 to the home side. With Ruislip Rangers beating East Sheen 5-1, in the only other Division One West fixture. In Division One Central there was a 3-1 away win for Hammersmith & Kensington Town over Edgware & Kingsbury Reserves, a 5-1 home win for Harrow Bhoys against Bessingby Park Rangers, and a first league win (2-1) for London Albion City, against RF Elite.
In The Russell Grant Division 2, AFC Heathrow recorded an emphatic 12-0 away win over Acton Ealing Whistlers. There was another big win for Old Isleworthians, who beat CB Hounslow & Abbots A 8-0, as Hounslow Lions won 5-1, in Feltham, against Greenford Town. And London Tigers also got three points, as they won 5-2 away to London Athletic. In the Jeff Nardin Division in a high scoring game of football, Chiswick Wanderers won their home fixture with CB Hounslow & Abbots 3rds 5-4. Old Isleworthians Reserves beat Feltham 4-1, and there was a 3-0 away win for Kodak (Harrow) 3rds, against Indian Gymkhana Club Reserves.
On to cup competitions now, and there was a win on penalties for Kodak (Harrow) Reserves over Totteridge & Whetstone, in a preliminary round tie of this season’s Middlesex FA Junior Cup, after a 1-1 draw. In the same competition, Westminster & Kensington beat Southall Athletic 4-0, FH Whistlers won 2-1 at home to OHM Sports, and after a 1-1 draw between Feltham Town and Kensington Dragons Blues, the away team progressed into the next round of this county cup tie on penalties.
In a second round tie of The Alec Smith Premier Division Cup, Harrow United won 2-1 (away) over FH Whistlers. In round one of The Jim Rogers President’s Division One Cup, at Regents Park, Barnes won 1-0 away to Camden & Islington United LFS. There was also a win for Whitestar (2-0 away to Bloomsbury), and AFC Southall won (9-0) against CB Hounslow & Abbots Senior Reserves. Additionally, Harrow United 2nds made it into round two of this league cup competition, with a 3-0 away win over Celtic (1995). And there were also cup wins for CBHA (2-0 away to Hilltop 2nds), and for Hounslow Wolves (5-0 at home to Wiseman West). This week on Saturday afternoon, my highlighted Middlesex League fixture of the week is the Camden & Islington United versus FH Whistlers Premier Division fixture at Hackney Marshes.
