Previewing the non-League/grassroots football matches that I will be attending this weekend:

I will be writing match reports on three grassroots/non-League football matches during this weekend. Starting with a really interesting FA Vase second round proper tie between step 6 side Lymore Gardens and step 5 side Biggleswade United, on Friday evening in the second round of this season’s FA Vase. Being played at Aveley FC, Biggleswade United will probably be the favourites for this game, given the fact that they play in a higher league. However, a very good footballing side in Lymore Gardens know what it takes to beat sides who play at this level of non-League football, as they showed on their run to the fifth round of this famous competition last season. I’m really looking forward to covering this game on my blog on Friday.

For my Saturday game which takes place at The 1878 Stadium (Burnham FC), Maidenhead Town face Shepherd’s Bush in a Combined Counties Football League Division One fixture. I’m looking forward to seeing Maidenhead Town for the first time tomorrow, following their promotion from step 7 at the end of last season. They are currently in 14th place in the league standings after 19 league matches played. Shepherd’s Bush start this step 6 fixture in 22nd place in the league table, with six points from 19 league matches played. The reverse league fixture between these two sides was won in the 98th minute by Ryan Hennessy of Maidenhead Town, as they won that game 4-3. Another interesting meeting between these two sides awaits.

My final game of the weekend, is a Sunday league (Essex Sunday Corinthian Football League Division 2 fixture) match between last season’s league and Corinthian Cup winners East London Ballers Reserves, and Prospect Protege, at the West Ham Foundation Ground this Sunday morning. It’s always great to attend East London Ballers Reserves’ matches, and after such an excellent season for them last time out, this will be my first time seeing them play during the 2026/27 season. A very good side and group of players, they will be hoping to record their third league win of this season on Sunday, against a Prospect Protege side who have won two of their first three league matches of the season.
