A piece on the 2025/26 Hackney & Leyton Sunday Football League Premier Division season, so far:

The Hackney & Leyton Sunday Football League Premier Division season (2025/26) was won by last seasons’ runners-up, FC Nyva, who have impressively won 11 of their 13 league fixtures this season. They are a quality side, and the team which has roots in London’s Ukrainian community, will also be competing to win the prestigious Dickie Davies Cup final, in the very near future, against either Boundary Estate or Hacks Gardens. Eight points off FC Nyva, are a talented Baddoo FC side, who finished on 26 points for the season, and who also reached the Albert Daniels (Senior) Cup final this season, which they lost (4-2) to City East. The founder of Baddoo FC, Yinka Akinlabi, is a very good player, who plays his Saturday football for step 6 side Lymore Gardens.

After 13 league matches played Hackney Borough are in third place in the table, and they finished this season as runners-up in the 2025/26 Hackney Marshes Super Cup. They are followed in the league table by City East, and then Hacks Gardens FC, who as mentioned previously, are one game away from a big cup final. And they are followed in the Premier Division table by last seasons’ champions, an excellent Boundary Estate side, who could still finish the season with two trophies, as well as doing well after entering the FA Sunday Cup, before exiting the national Sunday cup competition to a very good Shire United side. Boundary Estate were above Clapton Community Development, and then eighth place Azteca, in the Premier Division table.

Such a historic and famous Sunday football league, I am a big fan of this league which is played at Hackney Marshes every Sunday morning, in east London. And I am looking forward to covering the Boundary Estate versus Hacks Gardens game this Sunday, which should be a great and highly competitive game of football. This is a Sunday football league which has a very rich history, which goes back to the late 1940s.
