The well known and long running Camden Sunday Football League’s matches are played at Hackney Marshes, in east London. The 2025/26 season saw The Gun Pub win their third Division 1 title in the last three seasons, and what a season it was for a quality team, who won the quadruple. As well as winning the Division 1 title (they finished the league season on 33 points, after 14 league matched played), The Gun Pub also won the Frank Sheridan Senior Invitation Cup, the Michael McElligott Challenge Cup, and perhaps most impressively of all, the Middlesex FA Sunday Intermediate Cup. I was in attendance for that final at Bedfont Sports, in which The Gun Pub came from behind against HMT Samsunspor, to win that county cup final 2-1. The highly skilful Harry Clarke would score both goals for The Gun Pub, in that cup final.

Rex United ended the Division 1 season on 31 points, in second place in the league’s top division, and two points behind The Gun Pub. Rex United also had a good run in some of the league’s cup competitions, last season. Athletico DFZ finished the season in third place, one place better than during the 2024/25 season, ahead of Hackney Wednesday and then Hampstead Wanderers CF, respectively. Zingers FC, Apollo Athletic, and then New River Plate made up the Division 1 table.

With a difference of a very impressive 15 points from first to second place in Division 2, The Gun Pub’s 2nds would win that division of the Camden Sunday Football League, with a superb total of 40 points from 14 league matches played. AC Soulseek were runners-up in the Division 2 table (25), two points ahead of CF Phoenix, who were one point ahead of fourth placed Footballini United. AFC Camden, Wildwood Rangers, AFC Brasenose, and then AFC Islington made up the rest of the division, in order.

Such a well known and historic Sunday league, along with the Hackney & Leyton Sunday Football League (also played at Hackney Marshes), I definitely hope to finally get to a league match in the Camden Sunday Football League match, during the 2026/27 season. Many congratulations to The Gun Pub on what was a very memorable season for them.
