It’s another busy week of non-League football within London and the surrounding counties. Ahead of my preview of some of the standout fixtures of this weekend, I thought that I’d highlight three midweek fixtures which really standout to me, that are taking place within the London area, and the surrounding counties.
Spartans Youth versus Eagles Land Benfica:
At Bedfont FC on Tuesday evening, what should be an interesting Combined Counties Football League Division One fixture takes place, between Spartans Youth and the recently renamed Eagles Land Benfica. Spartans Youth lost their opening three league matches of the season, and they will be looking to get some points on the board tomorrow. Eagles Land Benfica had lost their opening game of the season 6-3 away to Shepherd’s Bush, last Friday. On the scoresheet for Eagles Land Benfica last Friday was the excellent finisher, Kristo Beshiku, who has scored many goals in the Middlesex County Football League over the past couple of seasons. That was his first goal of the Combined Counties League season, however.
I’m looking forward to attending and writing a match report of what should be a good and competitive contest on Tuesday.
Basildon Town versus London Fennecs:
Over to the Thurlow Nunn League First Division South, and to Basildon in Essex now, for my second game of the week. As Matt Knight’s Basildon Town side host a recently promoted side, in London Fennecs on Wednesday evening in a league fixture. Basildon Town have lost their first two league matches of this season, but they are a very well organised and respected side in this step 6 division, who will be looking to get their first win of the season on Wednesday. Zack Bettache’s London Fennecs side played some good football in their season opener against London Harts United on Saturday, although they lost that game 4-0. I’m expecting this to be a really good game of football on Wednesday. And I will be making the trip to Basildon to cover the game on my blog.
NW London versus Hertford Heath:
In the first round of this season’s Thurlow Nunn League Challenge Cup, NW London face recently promoted side Hertford Heath at Coles Park, on Wednesday evening. NW London have lost their first two league matches of the season, and a club with good history in cup competitions, they will be looking to progress into the next round of this league cup on Wednesday. However, in their way is a Hertford Heath side who most recently won 4-1 in the league against FC Baresi.
