Adam Dougui is a player with a lot of experience in academy football at QPR. I did a post-match interview with Adam, following his current team, PFC Victoria London’s, 4-0 home Combined Counties Football League Division One win over Molesey on Wednesday evening. That win for PFC Victoria moves them up to second place in the league table.

Could you talk me through a bit about your background in football?

Adam: I started playing at Bedfont Sports as an Under 15, doing really well there for a season. I then played for a showcase team in a friendly against QPR at the end of that season. And I got signed off the back of that, signing a two year scholarship at the club which was followed by a one year pro. I did about five years at QPR before getting released, and then going on to sign for Dulwich Hamlet.

I played at Dulwich Hamlet for about six months give or take, which was decent. I then got the opportunity to go abroad and play for a team in the Kosovan second division, called FC Suhareka. We got promoted to the first division, and then I moved on to KF Rahoveci for the second season. But, things didn’t really work out and I so came back to the UK, and the plan was to go and play in Malaysia for two years with a third division team. But, that kind of just fell through on deadline day. And after that I really just fell out of love with the game.

I called my old Bedfont Sports coach, which was where it all started for me. And so I went on to play for them for a couple of months, before joining PFC Victoria.

What has been your standout moment in football so far?

Adam: It would definitely be playing for my country (the Algerian Under 20 national side) against France Under 20’s, in front of over 60,000 fans. That was definitely one of my proudest moments, alongside scoring for my country in a cup match.

What were some of your thoughts on this evening’s game against Molesey?

Adam: We dominated from the start. We’re really picking up now and everyone’s getting along well, with the chemistry building within the team. We scored a lot of goals tonight, as well as missing a lot of chances as well, but the team who scores the most goals wins the game. And more importantly we kept the ball out of our net.

What are some of your hopes for the remainder of this season with PFC Victoria?

Adam: The ultimate goal and the reason why I’m here is to help to get this club promoted. On a personal note though, I just want to tally up as many goals as possible and I’m just really enjoying playing my football again. Every day that I’m turning up for training and playing matches, I’m loving it. So I’ve got that hunger back for playing football!
