The only midweek Premier Division fixture of the Middlesex County Football League, took place on Thursday evening between Kensington Dragons and Sporting Duet, which Sporting Duet won 2-1, courtesy of a brace of goals from Jean-Cedric Grahouan. On to Saturday afternoon now, and Wood Lane won a closely contested first round tie of this season’s Alec Smith Premier Division Cup against Kodak (Harrow), 3-2 at the London Tigers Sports Complex. 

In the Premier Division on Saturday, Kensington Dragons won 4-1 away to Apollo London, at Broadfields Sports Ground. And at the New River Stadium in a high scoring match between Camden United and FH Whistlers, Camden United won that fixture 6-4. Their goals came from Mohammed Hassan and Matheus Santana (x5). Matheus Santana now has 14 goals from his first six league appearances of this season. League leaders Harrow United recorded their fifth Premier Division win of the season, with a 4-0 away win over Explorers, at The Timbers. A hat-trick from Derenik Grigorian and a goal from Kyan Mentesh helped Harrow United to that big win.

Indian Gymkhana Club and Camden & Islington United would play out a 1-1 draw, with the Larkspur Rovers and LBS Lions finishing 0-0. Sporting Duet would record another win, with them winning 6-0 at home to Hayes & Yeading B on Saturday. In east London, the Stonewall and Hayes & Hillingdon match would finish 2-2. For Stonewall, Abdulla Alsuwaidi would score his fifth goal of the season for the home side, with Matthew Panford getting their other goal on the day. In the only Division One East fixture taking place on Saturday afternoon (the Whitestar versus Soccer Stars Ascenders fixture was awarded to the away team), goals from Jevonte Deabreau (x2) and Stuart Dunsden helped to secure a 3-1 home win over Bloomsbury, at the Paddington Recreation Ground.

In one of three Division One West fixtures taking place on Saturday, a brace of goals from Jovan Bains and one goal from Ruben Smith helped AFC Southall to a good 3-2 opening day victory over Barnes FC. In a game which saw five goals scored, Hounslow Wolves’ first ever game in Saturday football ended in them winning 3-2 at home to Townmead. And Ruislip Rangers also got off to a good start, as they beat CB Hounslow & Abbots Senior Reserves 4-0.

In the Division One Central, at London Marathon Playing Field Bessingby Park Rangers won 5-2 at home to Harrow United 2nds. There was a home win awarded to Brent United for their scheduled fixture against Celtic (1995), with the away side unable to field a team. And in what was RF Elite’s first ever game at this level, the recently promoted side would secure a point in a 2-2 away draw with Edgware & Kingsbury Reserves. And at Roger Bannister Sports Centre, Harrow Bhoys would win 3-2 at home to a London Albion City side who were playing their first ever competitive game since joining the Middlesex County League for this season.

In The Russell Grant Division 2, London Tigers got off to a great start following their relegation to this division at the end of last season. With them winning 5-1 away to CB Hounslow & Abbots A. Goals from Hounslow Lions players Rhys Feaviour and Mason Greenfield helped them to a 2-1 away win over Southall Athletic. And Old Isleworthians also got off to a winning start, with the home team beating AFC Heathrow 3-1. In the Jeff Nardin Division, there was an opening day win for OHM Sports, who won 7-1 away to Chiswick Wanderers. There was also a win for Feltham Town, who courtesy of goals from Kieran Collins (x2) and Adam Bell, defeated Kodak (Harrow) 3rds 3-1 at home. And finally, Kensington Dragons Blues won 6-2 at home to Feltham, on Saturday afternoon.

This Saturday afternoon, my highlighted league fixture of the week is a Division One East fixture between Soccer Stars Ascenders and FC Marylebone, which is taking place at Paddington Recreation Ground.
