The first Sunday of the 2026/27 season of the Middlesex County Football Sunday League got underway last Sunday morning. Starting with Division One, and Chiswick Celtic would start their league season off in style, with a 5-1 home win over FC Phoenix, at Kings House Sports Ground. Chiswick Celtic’s goals were scored by Olaniyi Shokunbi (x2), James Freeman and Ousmane Sylla. In the same division, this time at Lord Halsbury Playing Fields, Larkspur Rovers would record a 3-0 home win over Princes Park United. As Newton City and Sandgate played out a 2-2 draw at London Marathon Playing Fields.

In Division Two, Kensington Dragons (Sundays) beat Hillingdon United 7-0 at the Linford Christie Stadium. Maida Villa’s opening day 4-3 home victory over Grove Park Rangers sounded like an eventful game of football, with Maida Villa’s goals on Sunday coming from Cornell Holland (x2), Alexi Howells-Stevens, and Ronny Mfinda. Look out for a recent interview which I did with the chairman of Maida Villa, which I’ll be publishing very soon. Also in Division Two, TW Rangers and Wishing Well Wanderers played out a thrilling 4-4 draw, and at Little Harlington Playing Fields, the West Drayton and Dar United match ended in a 2-2 draw.

In Division Three, Heathrow Club Reserves recorded a 4-3 away win over Bedfont FC Dons, Richmond Saints won 7-3 away to Hillingdon Stags, and Jugg Boyz (courtesy of a winner from Trevon Jacobs) beat Old Southall 1-0. The other fixture taking place in Division Three saw SNM beat Frost Lions 5-3. Moving on to Division Four, and Eutectic started their season off with a 3-1 away win over Sporting Staines, and the Townmead Reserves versus Uxbridge Athletic XI fixture was abandoned with the scores at 4-4.

In a preliminary round tie of the Middlesex County FA Sunday Intermediate Cup, CB Hounslow & Abbots Sundays lost their cup tie at home to Radlett Town, 3-0. There were four Middlesex County FA Sunday Junior Cup preliminary round ties also taking place last Sunday. Bedfont Sunday Reserves won 9-4 away to St Nicholas, Chiswick Celtic Reserves lost 3-2 away to Versace, with Larkspur Rovers Reserves winning 3-0 at home to AFC Heathrow. Finally, Wishing Well Wanderers Reserves won their tie at home to AC Soulseek, 3-1. This Sunday morning, the Premier Division fixture between reigning champions Club Assyria and recently promoted side Hennessys is my highlighted league fixture of the week.
