Barnet Deaf 0-4 Camden United OG’s (My match report from Market Road Pitches)

Two good teams in Division Three of the Islington Midweek Football League, Barnet Deaf faced Camden United OG’s at Market Road Pitches on Thursday evening, in a league fixture. Camden United OG’s would continue their unbeaten start to the season with a good 4-0 win against Barnet Deaf. After a decent start to the game, Camden United OG’s would take an early lead from a set-piece. After Kevin Almeida’s accurate and well delivered whipped corner-kick was headed into the goal from relatively close range by Ali Abdalla, 1-0.

After Camden United OG’s had taken the lead there was a bit of an uneventful spell in the game. They continued to be the more creative side, but the game had played out in a fairly even manner. Camden did manage to create one further notable goalscoring chance before half-time, as following an intricate move Ayyub Bana would receive the ball on the right-hand side of the opposing team’s penalty area, before hitting an effort narrowly wide, across the face of the goal.

The second half proved to be considerably more eventful. With just over 30 minutes remaining in the game, Camden United OG’s made it 2-0. Kevin Almeida had an effort blocked on the edge of the Barnet box, with the ball then deflecting out to Said Tahir on the left-hand side of the penalty area, who following a nice bit of skill, would whip a clinical effort into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal, 2-0. Soon afterwards, Filip Gremza’s long throw-in into the Barnet penalty area saw a teammate have an effort on goal which was well cleared off the goal-line by a defender. And then Barnet Deaf, who hadn’t been able to create a lot of chances in this game because of a very good press and well organised Camden side really frustrating them, would go on create a very good chance.

Barnet’s number 6 played the ball across from the left, to number 8 at the back post of the Camden goal. However, from close range the Barnet number 8 had hit an effort into the side-netting of Aryan Salimi’s goal. However, despite Barnet Deaf coming close to reducing Camden United OG’s lead, it was Camden who would soon get a third goal. And it came from a really good team move. As Kevin Almeida did really well to progress the ball from out on the right flank, under pressure, down to the right-hand side of the Barnet box, before squaring the ball for Suleban Elmi, whose clever back-heeled pass found Timothy Kala, who did well to slot the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal, 0-3.

This game became more difficult for Barnet, and after having two players sin-binned by the referee, Camden United OG’s would further extend their lead. Kevin Almeida would score the goal of the game, soon after Anouar Bensaid Boushaba had powered a free-kick effort (from the edge of the Barnet box, and out on the left-hand side of the pitch) against the woodwork. With Kevin Almeida then getting to the ball before surging forward a short distance with the ball through the middle and whipping an unstoppable effort high into the goal, from around 20 yards out, 0-4.

Camden United OG’s worked hard for the win, and they got stronger and stronger as this game went on, playing some really good football in the process. Skilful and influential winger Kevin Almeida, who made a really good impression on this game down the right flank, was my player of the match. He was involved in all four of Camden’s goals on Thursday, and he impressed with the ball. But, mentions must also go to Amar Suleiman, Camden United OG’s captain and very industrious midfielder, who had a very good game, along with defender Filip Gremza. That’s now three wins from four for Camden United OG’s, who are now top of Division Three.
