One Brotherhood 2-9 Club Assyria: (My match report from Gunnersbury Park)

After three league defeats from their opening three Middlesex County Sunday Football League Premier Division fixtures of this season, One Brotherhood faced the current Premier Division champions Club Assyria on Sunday morning at Gunnersbury Park, in their latest league fixture. Club Assyria would win this match in emphatic fashion yesterday, 9-2.

It was Club Assyria who started this game really well. After taking an early lead, following a fast start to this game, their opening goal arrived as the result of a good move in the home team’s final third. Shaun Aram would pass the ball to Bilal Butt on the edge of the One Brotherhood penalty area, the Club Assyria forward would play an excellent pass, on the turn and into the path of Ajay Dass down the left-hand side of the box. And Ajay Dass would finish low into the goal beyond the One Brotherhood goalkeeper, 0-1.

Club Assyria would go on to make it 2-0 in their favour soon afterwards, following on from a good opening for the home team at the opposite end of the pitch. Marco Raposo’s good curling, lofted pass would find Ajay Dass, in behind the home team’s defence and inside their penalty area, from where he would stroke the ball past the the goalkeeper who he was one versus one with, 0-2. That second Club Assyria goal of the morning was followed by an outstanding save from their goalkeeper, Hussein Osman. After the outstretched Club Assyria goalkeeper had done really well to keep out Imran Dirshe’s curling effort (some 25 yards out from goal), which was going into the top right-hand corner of the goal.

Club Assyria, as they had done for so much of the first half, would finish the first half of this match in dominant fashion. For their third goal of the game, goalkeeper Hussein Osman would play the ball long upfield, as Ajay Dass got to the ball, before side-footing the ball really well into the path of Bilal Butt, who from in behind the home team’s defence and through on goal inside their penalty area, would skilfully round the goalkeeper. The legendary Middlesex County Football League striker would then finish low across goal, into the bottom right-hand corner, 0-3. And for their fourth goal before half-time, Shaun Aram would travel forward with the ball down the left flank for a short distance, before passing the ball across to Marco Raposo on the edge of the One Brotherhood penalty area. The Club Assyria midfielder would then curl an exquisite effort into the goal, off goalkeeper Ahmed Ahmed’s left-hand post, 0-4.

During the opening stages of the second half, and in similar style to how they had started the first half, Club Assyria would quickly add a further two goals to their tally for this game. Bilal Butt wasn’t facing goal when he received Ashur Joseph’s low cross from the left flank, into the One Brotherhood penalty area, but he turned well with the ball before curling a good effort into the back of the net, 0-5. And for their sixth goal of this one sided game of football, Club Assyria substitute Milo Whittaker would whip a very good low cross deep into the home team’s box, from the right flank. Having found Ajay Dass, he would skilfully take the ball beyond a defender before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal, 0-6.

One Brotherhood did start to improve in their play, however. For their first goal of the game, the ball was played across to Kamaal Nur inside the Club Assyria box, whose low effort on goal was well saved and kept out by Hussein Osman. However, on the follow-up Abdelkrim Ladoul would finish low and powerfully into the goal, 1-6. Soon after play had resumed, Esam Omer’s powerful effort on goal from down the right-hand side of the Club Assyria box, had to be well tipped over by Hussein Osman. And then a couple of minutes later for their second goal of the game, following an intricate move inside the away team’s box, Hamid Noori would finish powerfully into the roof of the goal, with a good finish, 2-6.

Club Assyria did respond to conceding those two goals in quick succession. And the  visiting team would finish the game strongly as a team. For their seventh goal of the game, Nico Campbell’s long forward pass would see the ball travel into the path of Bilal Butt, who one versus one with the goalkeeper inside the One Brotherhood box, would roll the ball into the back of the goal, 2-7. And then for goal number eight of the game, a simple but effective move from Club Assyria, saw Ahmad Bawar receive the ball on the edge of the home side’s box, before playing the ball forward to Bilal Butt inside of the box. And for his fourth goal of the game, the clinical centre-forward would roll the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of goalkeeper Ahmed Ahmed’s goal, 2-8.

Following on from a good move by the home team late on in this game, Club Assyria would score a late ninth goal. Returning substitute Shaun Aram would score the final goal of this eventful game of football, having received a short pass to the left-hand side of the One Brotherhood box. Having got the ball onto his left foot, he would finish well into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal with both power and accuracy, 2-9. A very good performance in the forward areas of the pitch from Club Assyria, against a youthful One Brotherhood side, the current Premier Division champions played some really nice football. They always looked to play forward, and with a quality forward line, they really did make it a very difficult game for the home side.

Forward Ajay Dass really set Club Assyria on their way yesterday, to a dominant performance. He started the game in superb fashion, and with a hat-trick of goals scored and one assist provided, Ajay Dass was my player of the match. However, Bilal Butt had an outstanding game as well, scoring four goals and providing one assist, with Marco Raposo also playing a big part in this win from a deeper position on the pitch.
