A round-up of last Sunday’s Hackney & Leyton Sunday Football League action:

Last Sunday’s Hackney & Leyton Sunday Football League action/results are included in the following round-up. Starting with the Premier Division of this long standing and famous Sunday league, and there was a 3-1 win for the current Premier Division champions FC Nyva, against Azteca. In a big early season match between City East and league leaders Hackney Borough, it would finish in a competitive 1-1 draw. For City East their goalscorer was Trevor Harding.

There was a good win for Clapton Community Development, who beat Boundary Estate 3-2. Goals for Clapton were scored by Korahn Gayle (x2) and Abdul Hafeez Shobowale. On to Division 1 now, and Fish Island won 3-1, courtesy of goals from Matthew Beazeley, Joe Goldacre and Robbie Graham, against WO Sports, in what was Fish Island’s first league match of this season. Limehouse Tigres also won their match 3-1 on Sunday morning, against FC Dnister. With Onetouchables making it two wins from two in Division 1, thanks to a 3-0 win against Community Road.

In Division 2 there were 1-0 wins for AFC Shooters and Queens Head Athletic, against Gladstone Wanderers and Recreativo Hackney, respectively. In the same division the Loxford Lions and Sunday FC match finished in a goalless draw. However, there was an emphatic 8-0 victory for Spartan Athletic United against St Antonys, and a 3-1 win for South London Sharks over The Wenlock.

Division 3 of the Hackney & Leyton League produced some big wins. None more so however, than Élever Eleven’s 12-3 win over Wojak Sunday. There were also wins for  (4-2) Virtus Badgers over Absolute FC, Birkbeck Orient (7-0) against Naughty Nutters, HBY FC (9-0) versus Clapton Orient, and H & L Allstars (5-0) versus East London. Also in Division 3 Lea River would come back to earn a point in a 1-1 draw with Bow Badgers.

There was also three cup ties, including two county cup ties, which featured sides from the Hackney & Leyton League. The Hackney Marshes Super Cup match between Baddoo FC, of the Premier Division and Limited Pros of Division 1, was impressively won 3-2 by Limited Pros. Playing against Southern Sunday Football League opposition in the early rounds of the prestigious Middlesex FA Sunday Intermediate Cup, Division 2 side Low Hall FC did very well to come back from 2-0 down against Argentina FC, to get the scores back to 2-2, courtesy of goals from Prince Saint-Gyamfi and Tommy Akrasi-Bonsu. Unfortunately Low Hall would lose that county cup tie on penalties. Finally, in the same round of the Middlesex FA Sunday Intermediate Cup, Division 2 side RT United lost 3-2 against a strong Brentford Town side.

I think that my next Hackney & Leyton League match that I’ll be in attendance for will be the Dickie Davies Cup first round tie between Low Hall and Recreativo Hackney, on the 25th of October.
