Every season a number of teams take their first steps into non-League pyramid football, with a number of teams joining the Middlesex County Football League, at different levels of this very good quality league. Joining the Jeff Nardin Division of the Middlesex League (step 10) there were two teams who joined this division ahead of the start of the 2026/27 season, in Deep Hearts and Chiswick Wanderers. Deep Hearts are currently in tenth place in that division, with Chiswick Wanderers two places above them in the league table after the same amount of matches played (7). Having entered the Surrey County FA Intermediate Cup, Chiswick Wanderers have a big cup tie in that competition against step 8 side Barnes FC, next Saturday afternoon in west London.
In The Russell Grant Division 2, Greenford Town (they currently have a league record of three wins and five defeats) and Acton Ealing Whistlers have joined that division for this season. Although a youthful Acton Ealing Whistlers side (it’s great to have a team representing Acton in their name again!) have had a difficult start to their league season with seven defeats from seven league matches played, I wish them all the very best of luck for the remainder of this season as they look to get some points on the board in the very near future.
On to Division One Central now (step 8) and two ambitious sides have joined that division, both of which are doing well and who I expect to really challenge for the title and promotion to the Premier Division for season 2027/28. London Albion City are a talented team who are documenting their journey in non-League football on social media, and the Wembley FC based side have a record of three wins, one draw and one defeat in Division One Central so far this season. They are one place below so far unbeaten team Hammersmith & Kensington, last season’s Middlesex FA Junior Cup winners, who have moved across from the Wimbledon & Kingston Football League. They also recently defeated a strong Cuffley Sports (step 7) side in round one of the Anagram Records Trophy.
In Division One West, we have recently joined team East Sheen United, who have a fascinating background story as a reformed club of the old East Sheen FC, who played in competitions such as the FA Cup over 100 years ago. East Sheen FC are currently in tenth place in Division One West after six league matches played. Also joining Division One West for this season are the talented London Park United. Although they had their first two league matches awarded against them, London Park United, which has talented players such as Thiago De Souza De Brito who I know from non-League football, have won their first three league matches played. And I think that they can still really challenge for the league title during the remainder of the season, and I do hope to get to one of their matches.
Three newly formed teams joined Division East for the start of this season. They were north London based side Whitestar (currently in third place in their division), Athenians, a club with roots in London’s Greek community, who have started the season well also, and FC Starz, who were initially going to be playing in The Jeff Nardin Division. FC Starz have won two and lost three of their first five Division One fixtures of this season. Finally, in the league’s Premier Division a youthful Hayes & Yeading B Team are in ninth place in the league after 14 league matches played, after joining the league from the Suburban Football League.
