In what is a very good and competitive county cup competition, the Middlesex FA Premier Cup enters its quarter-finals stage on Tuesday of next week. The first of three quarter-final ties that will be taking place on Tuesday, which I will be focusing on in this piece, is the Spartans Youth versus Harrow Borough Under 23s game. Spartans Youth play their football in the Combined Counties Football League Division One, which is at step 6 of non-League football. They were runners up in this county cup competition last season, and they should be considered favourites for this tie against a youthful Harrow Borough Under 23s team, who play their league football in the Suburban Football League, and who received a bye into the quarter-finals after Shepherd’s Bush had withdrawn from the last round.
Two step 6 teams from the same league (Thurlow Nunn League First Division South) will go head to head at Wingate & Finchley FC on Tuesday, as Enfield Borough take on one of my competition favourites, in AS London. This should be a really interesting tie, and it’s also a north London derby match. AS London are a very good side who in recent years have done well in this county cup, but a youthful and talented Enfield Borough side have been playing well recently in the league.
My tie of this round of fixtures take place at Spelthorne Sports Club (also on Tuesday evening), when step 6 side Staines & Lammas (Middlesex) face a strong SAL side in Civil Service, who reached the final of this competition in season 2024/25. I really do think that John Sewell’s Civil Service first team could go all the way in the cup this season, but despite a strong start to their season they know that they can’t underestimate Staines & Lammas, at all. Having received a bye into round two where they beat one of the competition favourites in Wembley FC, Civil Service will be looking forward to this game, as they look to bounce back from a league defeat to Nottsborough on Saturday.
Finally, Leon Louis’s Camden United side, a team who remain unbeaten in all competitions so far this season, will travel to face established step 6 team London Samurai Rovers on Tuesday the 17th of this month. The only remaining step 7 side still in this cup, Camden performed excellently against PFC Victoria London (who they beat 5-2) in the previous round. However, this is another tough draw for the Middlesex League Premier Division team, but their confidence and belief as a team, will be high. I will also be covering that cup tie on my blog.
