There are some great FA Sunday Cup second round ties taking place this weekend across the country. Focusing on the London sides still involved in this great national cup competition, and we start with the Bedfont Sunday versus Shire United fixture (taking place at Bedfont Sports Club). An interesting cup tie between two sides who play in this North Surrey & Middlesex Border Sunday Football League, this promises to be a really competitive game. The same should be said of the Greenwich Park Rangers versus The Gun Pub second round tie.
A well respected Greenwich Park Rangers side are currently in sixth place in the Premier Division of the Woolwich and Eltham Sunday Football Alliance, and they will face competition debutants, in The Gun Pub, of the Camden Sunday Football League. The Gun Pub had an outstanding season last time out, and they’ll be looking to make some more history in this Sunday’s cup tie at Beckenham Town FC. What a game this promises to be!
My FA Sunday Cup tie which I will be covering on my blog this Sunday, will be an east London derby between a very well respected and talented Baddoo side, of the Hackney & Leyton Sunday Football League, and former competition winners in Baiteze Squad (of the Essex Sunday Corinthian Football League), at Aveley FC. Baddoo can beat any team on their day in Sunday football (they won against AC Milano in the first round), and although this will be a tough game against Baiteze Squad, they will look to go further in this competition at the excellent Parkside Stadium.
Both Broadfields United Sundays and East London Ballers have progressed into the third round of this season’s national and most prestigious Sunday cup competition, after their respective opponents had both withdrawn ahead of this Sunday’s second round ties. However, there is a north London derby between Trabzonspor UK and Mehmetcik Galataya at the New River Stadium, this Sunday afternoon in round two. Both Barnet Sunday Football League sides, Trabzonspor UK lead the way in the BSL Premier Division at this early stage of the league season. They have already played against Mehmetcik Galataya in the Premier Division this season, with that game ending in a 4-4 draw. And, in the national Sunday cup competition this should also be a really good game of football between two very good sides. I wish all of the London based sides the very best of luck for their respective FA Sunday Cup ties.
