Last week there were many games taking place across the different divisions of the Middlesex County Football League (Saturdays). Here is my slightly later than usual weekly round-up. On Tuesday of last week Hayes & Yeading B recorded a good 4-0 home win over Explorers FC. Then on Wednesday evening a goal from Callum Alexander was the difference between Stonewall and Apollo London, as Eric Najib’s Stonewall side won that game 1-0. And then on Thursday evening, ahead of the action on Saturday, FH Whistlers won their away fixture against Kensington Dragons at The Den, 5-2.
Starting off with the Premier Division results from last Saturday, and Wood Lane got another good win. As the Southall based side won 5-1 away to Eagles Land Cricklewood, with Kamaal Nur getting a hat-trick for Wood Lane in that win. FH Whistlers picked up their second win of the week, with a narrow 3-2 win over Apollo London at Brentham Club, helping them to three points. At Brunel University Sports Complex, Harrow United and Stonewall played out an entertaining 3-3 draw, with the Hayes & Yeading B versus Larkspur Rovers also ending in a draw (1-1).
Title and promotion contenders Hayes & Hillingdon got a good 2-0 home win over Sporting Duet, and another promotion contender in Camden United also won last Saturday. As the north London club won 3-0 away to Indian Gymkhana Club. Also, goals from Louis Filler, Hugo Cakurda and Karl Usher-Williams, helped Camden & Islington United to a 3-0 away win over Kodak (Harrow).
In the Division One East (step 8), Bloomsbury and Camden & Islington United LFS played out a 1-1 draw. In the same division, FC Marylebone made it two wins from two, with a very good 5-2 away win over Soccer Stars Ascenders, and Stonewall Reserves recorded a 9-0 win over a Rose side who recently joined the Middlesex League. Joseph Grant’s goal was the difference as Barnes beat CB Hounslow & Abbots Senior Reserves 1-0 at home, in Division One West. Ruislip Rangers won their away league fixture against Ickenham 3-2, with Ruislip Town beating league debutants East Sheen 2-1. The only other fixture taking place in Division One West, saw Hounslow Wolves win 1-0 away to Wiseman West.
In Division One Central, at Vale Farm Sports Centre RF Elite won a high scoring league fixture at home to Brent United, 5-3. Hilltop Reserves lost their first game of the season 5-1 at home to CBHA, with Harrow Bhoys winning their second game of the season (3-0) away to Harrow United 2nds. Also, Hammersmith & Kensington Town won 4-0 at home to Kodak (Harrow) Reserves, at the Shamrock Club. In their first game since joining the Middlesex Saturday league, for Hammersmith & Kensington Town Hamid Abdel-Salam scored two of their goals, being named as their player of the match. The final Division One Central fixture was between Bessingby Park Rangers and Edgware & Kingsbury Reserves. With the away side winning that match 6-2.
In The Russell Grant Division 2, a strong FH Whistlers Originals side won 3-0 away to AFC Heathrow, Old Isleworthians won 3-0 away to Greenford Town, and Hounslow Lions beat London Tigers by the same scoreline (away). Additionally, London Athletic and CB Hounslow & Abbots A played out a 3-3 draw, with Southall Athletic winning 11-0 at home to Acton Ealing Whistlers. And in the Jeff Nardin Division, at Feltham Rugby Club, Feltham got their first win of the season courtesy of a 1-0 win over OHM Sports. Kensington Dragons Blues beat Feltham Town 2-1, Kodak (Harrow) 3rds won 4-3 at home to CB Hounslow & Abbots 3rds, and at The Memorial Ground Chiswick Wanderers won 4-3 away to Old Isleworthians Reserves.
In the preliminary round of the Middlesex County FA Intermediate Cup, there were three fixtures taking place that involved teams from the Middlesex League. Celtic (1995) lost their preliminary round tie (5-0) away to London Samurai Reserves, Explorers beat London Albion City 3-1, and AFC Southall won 3-1 against Premier Division side Kensington Dragons. This week on Saturday afternoon, my highlighted fixture of the week takes place at Market Road pitches, as two league debutants in Athenians and FC Starz face each other in a Division One East fixture.
