Looking ahead to Friday evening’s FA Vase second round tie between Lymore Gardens and Biggleswade United:

On Friday evening (kick-off is at 7:45pm) at Aveley FC’s Parkside Stadium Lymore Gardens will host Biggleswade United in an FA Vase second round proper tie. Lymore Gardens and their run to the fifth round of last season’s FA Vase, was in my opinion one of the most memorable runs of last season’s FA Vase. Especially when you consider that it was their debut season in the FA Vase, and now going on to this season and their bye into the second round proper of this great national cup competition for step 5 and 6 clubs of non-League football, Lymore will be looking to build on such a great run.

Lymore Gardens and their first team (step 6) currently play their football in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division South, and they are currently in tenth place in the league table after 12 league matches played this season. After very impressively reaching the league play-offs last season, Lymore will certainly be aiming to go even better in the league this season. The visiting team on Friday in Biggleswade United, have been going since their formation as a club in 1959. And the step 5 non-League side whose men’s first team are managed by Kane Dougherty, play their football in the very strong Spartan South Midlands Football League Premier Division. They finished last season in sixth place in their league, and so far this season they are in seventh place in the league standings after 12 league matches played.

This will be a very tough FA Vase tie for Lymore Gardens. Yet, just like last season, Lee Benjamin and the Lymore coaching staff and players won’t fear who they play, regardless of what level that the opposing team is playing at. I’ve seen Lymore Gardens enough times over the past four seasons to know that not only do they have such a talented squad and play some of the best football at steps 5 and 6, but they also have that great confidence to play their game their way, regardless of the occasion. Lymore Gardens legends such as Dylan Roberts, Ryo Brown (captain) and Tyrique Peters are all still with the club for another historic season in the club’s history. However, Lymore have also added some quality additions to their squad. With talents like Sertan Kirman, James Ikotun, Patrick Clarke and Erol Hassan, just some of their summer signings.

I’m really looking forward to this FA Vase tie on Friday, in what is my highlighted FA Vase tie of the second round proper of the competition, and the one which I have decided to write a preview on.
